Duke Nukem Forever Teaser Trailer Coming Tomorrow

Posted by 3D Realms staffer George Broussard on the official 3D Realms forums:

Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.

After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser.

Thank you for being fans of the game and for your continued patience.

I'd like to thank the people on the team that worked so hard to create this teaser and the friends of 3DR that helped create it (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule, Frank Bry, Jason Evigan and of course, Jon St. John).

And, the accompanying image that they released:

Based off that picture, I can see a Duke Nukem movie in the works starring Ron Perlman

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The image doesn't look very good, really, for a current-gen title. Is it still running on the Doom 3 engine?

The image looks like pretty much every next-gen pic we see that hasn't been photoshopped to hell. They never did get around to anti-alias.

I await the teaser out of curiosity if not excitement. The last few DN games have been quite awful, so we shall see if a new true sequel will be any good in this day and age. I hope to god they get rid of all the excess "trademarks" like the golden desert eagles and stick with what made him great originally.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Why not use the HAVOK engine since its rather popular and not rather dated like the D3 engine?

with these graphics, it looks like a port to the Wii is inevitable (mind you without some of Duke's comments, let alone axing the strippers ).

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I was more or less meaning a physics engine, but I don't have any high hopes on correct physics in my Duke Nukem games.

*ahem* Yeah, this looks completely like the Doom 3 engine. They should have made it cell-shaded, like Paper Mario or Jet Grind Radio. Then it would have really been interesting to see the prositutes and their giant bazookas, not to mention their twin guns, and probably over-exaggerated 80s hairstyles.

Also their breasts, but that's not the focus of what we're talking about.

I like how his cigar isn't even lit up. Someone forgot that little piece of texture.

Havok doesn't necessarily mean "realistic" or "correct" physics either. It's been used in everything from a Rainbow Six game to Dawn of Mana, so~

Let's hope it's not UE3. ::waits 20 minutes for Duke's hair texture to pop in::

Not too far back they had job opportunities for people experienced with the Unreal Engine that wanted to work on a "project" coming to XBOX360 & PC.

In any case.

Oh sure, I make a tame joke or two and posts get removed. Is this Chinese Internet Filtering

I was still serious though, the Doom 3 engine is old and Its not going to be anything special with Duke, and there IS a texture missing in that photo for the Cigar being lit!

--Edit--
Thank you for embracing Internet Freedom and restoring my post.

A burning cigar can look quite dull and unlit if you don't puff for a time. He was too busy kicking ass, so the flame has burned through it a little bit. :'D

I will look for it tomorrow.

Am I the only one who thinks they slapped Bruce Willis' face directly onto the promo image?

Seriously, look at it.

I can't unsee it now.

Unless they're secretly going to do a live-action tie-in movie with Bruce, and this is a stealth hint at it. ...Actually that would be pretty awful, Die Hard 2 would be a better movie then that.

... They've been working on Duke Nukem Forever since Jesus was born, and the graphics here are kind of disappointing... Here's to hoping some genius gameplay mechanics will be implemented to actually get me to buy this. If not, I really hope they update their graphics, or better yet follow the trend of using the Unreal 3 engine, or make their own.

Oh god, if they switch to a different engine again, we will NEVER see the damn game.

Just use the damn Doom 3 engine and get it over with.

I'd be excited if it were a gameplay trailer. A CG teaser means little to nothing.

the graphics here are kind of disappointing...
So? Crysis had good graphics but the gameplay was worth fuckall.

DNF will probably allow you to have a hooker attached to your cock permanently throughout the game, plant your Dr. Martens in Master chiefs face, crush shrinked down LAPD pig cops between your palms, and take a shit in the dead body of an alien mother queen.

All at the same time.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
