Dubble's Artwork Repository

Couldn't think of a better title...

So someone suggested I make a cafe thread for critiques and...just to show off artwork and get opinions and stuff. So that's what this thread is for. As I do new artwork I'll just post them up here to discuss, crit, get feedback on em, etc etc etc. (Cause I need so to get better )

I'll start the thread off with this:

I needs critiques for a midterm project that I'm starting early. Sorry for the messy blue pencil layouts. I'm trying to forgo actual regular pencil work due to time constraints. Official lettering will be done via the handwriting font I created on computer to make it look more professional, so ignore any lettering issues you may see. I'll post the remaining pages once everything's done, probably in a few weeks.

















Ultimately it'll be a 15-20 page comic that I have to have fully inked by semesters end for a senior cartooning portfolio class I'm auditing. So far everything is in red and blue pencil (only because I ran out of red lead and blue was all i could find in my pouch.) The original draft sped by like wild lightning, so i thought I'd add an emotional crux to it, maybe ease into the conflict rather than go full speed.

Upon actually taking the time to look at it I think that maybe its a bit cluttered in spots, and that's always been a big problem of mine as I try to put a lot of visual imagery in the panels. that's something I personally know I need to try to work on. I think it was coeccias that pointed out Pages 1 and 4 as being classically styled and I can see that. Page 2 especially needs to be whittled down for the sake of text I think.

I guess I've taken a lot of my panel layout notions from Don Rosa (if you're familiar with him and his work) more than I'd thought for better or worse. =\


Anyways - Opinions? Comments? Crits? Suggestions? Dub what the fuck is wrong with you?

I think the hat is peculiarly fitting of Darkwing, Dubble. If a bit queer.

While my artwork critique leaves much to be desired, I have to add my two cents worth here; your drawing talent is phenomenal! It looks official, but with a certain stylistic factor that makes it different to the rest. I can't fault the work you've posted there, but I can certainly use superlatives! It's some of the best work I've ever seen, when it comes to the comic market.

As for the comic itself, I read it all and you can colour me impressed. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread~

Well - its not official but if I have my way it will be. I currently do minor (very minor) freelance work for Disney Comics while I'm in grad school. Nothing big or anything, but my editor has asked me to do some model sheets of Darkwing Duck and cast just to see what I can do. When I have it done I'll post it here for crits.

That doodle was strictly from memory and not looking at anything just to see how close I could get from memory (I haven't drawn him in YEARS and it was back when I couldnt draw very well to be perfectly frank). From here on out I'll try something more on model with him, I think.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Its official, I am jealous. I spent so much time drawing in my youth and have naught to show for it. This isn't the first time I've been impressed by your stuff.
