I am currently behind a wireless router (Netgear WPN824). I followed all the directions from this website to open up my port to use bittorents.

But every time I test my port, it says it is blocked. Any suggestions?

I am currently using utorrents.

Do you really have to use a wireless connection for bittorrent? Thats going to be really really slow.

Yes, I have to. The router is in the other room, and dragging a line across the house is going to be hard.

I mean it can't be that slow. It's really weird how my torrent works. Some torrents, I'm actually able to download at like 30-50 kbs. But usually I'm stuck at 0 and cannot connect to anyone.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I use a wireless connection and get up to 600 KiB/s off it. Wireless is no slower than a wired machine, as far as the internet goes (assuming your connection is reliable, of course). At least, in my experience.

As to your port reporting itself as closed, make sure the router's internal IP it's forwarding to (192.168.1.10x, probably) matches the current IP your system has. If you don't know how to get your current IP, open up the Command Prompt (Start > Run > cmd), and use ipconfig.

Failing that, make sure any security software you use, such as an anti-virus or firewall, is not blocking the port. If you use AVG Plus Firewall, Kerio, or Zone Alarm (among other programs), you will need to open the port in them as well.

Are you using any security software like the above mentioned?

This is what I have. I checked my IP, and it's 192.168.1.100

I am not using any firewall at this moment, except Windows Firewall.

I have not messed with Windows Firewall in so long, but try (temporarily) disabling it and heading on over to GRC and using their Shields Up! service to test your ports?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

When I used Shields Up!, it says that my port is open. (I think)

But when I tried testing it again using utorrent, it says it's blocked.

Stealth means your port is closed and not responding to outside requests (this may mean your router, or your computer, is just dropping packets outright). This is not my area of expertise, though, so I cannot be sure.

Did you disable Windows Firewall?

What bittorrent client do you use?
I had a issue like this with my brother's router, even whenI did get a connection it was very slow, mainly because the bittorrent client I was using was going through one port.

Try Bit Tornado. You can change the options to access many ports.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
