I've already spun the Earth around far too much. Good fun though. I'm looking forward to the Internet Channel. I want to surf on GFF on Wii!

Nice that they send you a message and light up the system to tell you about the Forecast Channel being made available.

Getting my update right now, though hopefully the forecast doesn't call for a bricked console and a flood of tears when the update completes.

EDIT: Now this is some cool shit, though I'm not sure I'd like to say it would replace the Weather Channel or weather.com, but I guess if you have no other available alternative being able to check the weather on the fly with the Wii is pretty nice. Update didn't brick my console either, so it's clear skies (even though there is fog in Corpus Christi right now) lol.

I was speaking idiomatically.

OMG I'm having so much fun with the Weather Channel. No more switching to TV when my mum wants to know the weather! (The South Pole only -17 celsius? Global Warming!)

Speaking of the internet, will they be able to use usb keyboards? What if I want to write a long journal entry ;_;?

File this under "rumor", but I'm still going to bitch about the horrendous possibility.

Quote:
Reliable sources close to Nintendo have told CVG that Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Wii, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on DS will not see light of day until Christmas 2007, which could mean anything from October to December.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com...l-rss&skip=yes

It's the goddamn Gamecube and N64 all over again. Now Sony has nothing to worry about; by the time the heavy hitters for Wii come along, there will be at least over 20 PS3 games out. There's already about 5 notable titles in March alone.

The Wii simply should not have this excuse; if it's less graphic-heavy than its competitors and easier to develop, there should be more games available.

Now for some possible Grubuttals

I dunno, I haven't honestly been looking forward to those three games nearly as much as others like Sonic, Fire Emblem, and of course Smash Bros. Brawl. Phantom Hourglass will likely take a backseat to most of the stuff coming out in February/late January for me anyway.

This seems like a pretty unlikely rumor anyway, especially now that the Wii TV commercials are even using Metroid Prime clips. They're all games scheduled for March, April, and June. It seems strange that they'd all be bumped up by 6-9 months.

While that's not what I'd call a particularly trustworthy source, it's pretty possible. Not so much for MP3, since Retro Studios should be able to get that out, but moreso for Mario and Phantom Hourglass.

If it does happen, I'd say the reasoning is not only polishing but to hold back some big titles for the 2007 holiday season. It's not like the Wii has lack of awesome games, anyways, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hold out on a couple more Zelda playthroughs, WiiSports, Trauma Center, ExciteTruck, Rayman, Elebits, Pokemon Battle Revolution, WarioWare, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest Swords, Super Paper Mario, and Crystal Chronicles. I wouldn't be surpised if Bob Ross, Battalion Wars 2, Resident Evil, and Mario Strikers Charged make it out in 2007, as well. Besides, the really important thing is when Brawl comes out...

I could also list a bunch of great DS games coming out next year, but Phoenix Wright 2 in January is all I need to know.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Has the Bob Ross game gone back into development? The last I heard about that was an article on Gamespot several weeks ago saying it had been put on hold due to legal issues. Not canned, but no work was being done on it either.

Ah, I hadn't heard about that. Which is odd, since I was using Gamespot to check release dates, and they still have it listed as "TBA." Which might be more accurate than "cancelled," but you'd think they could list it as "on hold" or something like that.

Oh, and I forgot Mario Party 8. I haven't been interested in any of them since 2, but the Wiimote might manage to make things fun again.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Here's the article about it.

GameSpot contacted Joseph Hatcher, head of AGFRAG to confirm the message. Hatcher reiterated the previous statement, saying, "We will not be developing the game on any platform." Citing legal reasons, Hatcher was unable to give details of his company's decision. However, he did leave the door open for the game to live on. "We are not saying it is canceled in anyway," he told GameSpot.

Big deal if Metroid gets delayed. People seem to forget that Nintendo are the second largest publisher in the industry. A Mario Party, a sequel to one of Nintendo's myarid of racing franchises, Pokémon, Project HAMMER, Disaster: DoC, Super Paper Mario, Wario ware and probably a couple of titles we haven't even heard about will come out before Mario and Metroid. It's not like Mario and Metroid are even system sellers anymore. Nearly everyone buying those games has already purchased a Wii.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Btw, does anyone know if Nintendo has begun patching some games yet? I was wondering if Red Steel got the fixing it badly needs in some areas.

I don't think it's started. Red Steel will alledgedly get an update that enables online multiplayer sometime next year. Hassle UbiSoft about it.

So what do you all use in terms of batteries for the Wiimotes? It seems like I'm chewing through the damn things at a rate of 2 every three days, so obviously it's beginning to get annoying.

I hear you can use rechargeable batteries but the Wii manual discourages you from doing so. Anyone have a good battery setup that they could recommend?

I recomend Rechargeables. Buy enough for five remotes, with the spare abtteries in the recharger so you always have some ready to go. The Wii manual discourages you because they don't last as long as regular batteries and Nintendo have pbusiness links to numerous battery manufacturers.

That sounds reasonable, though is there any particular brand battery/charger that could be recommended for something like this? I'd rather go with what works for someone already using a particular setup rather than take shots in the dark with new combinations.

I used Rayovac rechargeable batteries for my GBC and GBA several years ago. They had a pretty good battery life for a few years.

Fun fact, CVG is a British website. So this is likely true. For PAL regions. Don't flip out just yet!
Also I've been in touch with the department of fair trading, Nintendo either replaces/fixes my machine or gets fined. Man, I've dealt with dodgy weirdo no-name companies about warranty related stuff that were nicer than bloody Nintendo. It's going to be ages before anything happens though (holiday season and all that), so I'm stuck with this faulty shit box. =)

Not sure if anyone's seen this yet, but apparently the browser will be available on the 22nd. Those who end up buying it only have to pay 500 points:

That's alright. A try before you buy thing always clicks with me. Hopefully it isn't as broken as the DS browser. 22nd December here we come!

How exactly is it try before you buy? Either you get it completely free before the end of June, or you pay for it after June.

Just to get this stright: the 500 points will be a one-time thing, right? It's a pretty good price if it's a one-time purchase, otherwise, if continual payment is required (monthly, bimonthly, etc.) then it may be more than what most people would be willing to pay for.

The one coming out on Friday is really just a trial version. The official browser will be coming out March for free, then 500 Wii Points after June, therefore making this Friday's release a trial thing really.

I'm still hanging out for a Wii keyboard. What about long posts -_-??!
