A week ago, I hit both 500 points and got that 9 pointer in the same day. I wanted to post about it, but I was already the last post at the time.

I was actually really surprised that one was a 9 pointer, because the means by which I had found it was the same as a handful of other tracks. But seeing as #10 only had a 15% success rate, I guess there must be a reason it's a 9. And for some reason I still don't have any of those pesky 8's. Or that stupid 161, how is that crap only 1 point?

Just broke 200 (201 to be exact.) A couple of Sega ones were there, and I guessed totally at random and got them. One was a very low pointer and sounded like Sega Master Syetem synth, so I literally guessed one of the pack-in games with that system and it was right.

Haha. It's probably from a really popular game that you've probably played and forgot all about the music? I didn't know it at first, until I went back and listened to the soundtrack.

I'm still pulling my hair over #286. Add to that #86, since I've started the quiz. Now where did I hear that before?! =/

Incidentally, I have 4 tracks left unsolved in each of those 7, 8 & 9-pointers.

What about the least popular tracks you've guessed? I'm like one of three persons to get both #30 & #250 right, which aren't that obscure if you ask me...

The least popular track I've guessed correctly is... #86! =O

I wish I knew who the composer to that game was, because the soundtrack is awesome.

#72 is the only other track I've guessed correctly that less than 20 people total have gotten.

Number 72 has only 6 correct guesses, and that's the least guessed one that I have.

72, 105, 61, 242, 10, and 151 are all the ones that have single digit correct guesses that I have. Number 14 is the most guessed one that I don't know.

For a good long time, I was apparently the only guy who knew #30...the number of correct guesses is up to three now though, so I don't feel quite so geeky for knowing it.

Hmmm...other ones:
2 others know 227,
5 others know 230,
7 others know 224,
10 others know numbers 3 and 208,
14 others know 269,
18 others know 276,
and 20 others know 272 (and most from here, I'd wager).

All told, not bad.

EDIT: Following Draconis' and TheKnightOfNee's example, I'll add that the most popular ones that elude me are 172, 17, and 33. Curse them.

DOUBLE EDIT: Hail Draconis, fellow #30 guesser.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I got most of these, too. Well, except for 227 & 208. Good ones there.

I'm one of those tracks' guessers, too! Nice pick.

So, I finally got #161, the last one pointer. And I could've sworn to god I had already guessed that game for another song. Regardless of if it did or not, I feel like banging my head on something for having not figured this out until now.

Anyways, that 1 point puts me exactly 100 behind sequel_boy. Does he still even come around here anymore?

FOUR NEW ONES!

Just got the easiest of the bunch for now. The rest sound eerily familiar. I can say for certain I've heard 289 before, but where from is an entirely different matter. More stuff to ponder over. >_<

Hey it's been a while.

Got 290 (surprised it's 8 points, but not complaining), and 291 (remarkable soundtrack for it's time). I guess the lack of updates, or perhaps lack of announced updates is reducing my interest for some reason. I found a song I remember in the quiz, but I haven't gone back to even look for it yet.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Got the obvious one. I know I've heard 289 before, so I should be able to find it soon. 290 also sounds familiar, but I have no idea where to look.

Also, congrats to Draconis for finally getting above 1000 points!

EDIT - Got number 289. Well, it's pending, but I know I got it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Wow, I know 292. I'm proud of myself for remembering that one.

Wooooo for 290. I was considering nominating that track for SotW awhile back. So awesome.

No idea what 289 or 291 are. Still, 2/4, and 15 points between them, that's gotta be a record for me.

And same here, dc72. There are at least two I should go back to get sometime.

What was the "easiest one," Draconis?

How ya doing, buddy?

Like Drakken, I've got no clue on 289 and 291. 291 seems very slightly familiar, but nowhere near familiar enough to place it.

I totally know 290, but I gotta go rooting for it.

292 is awesome. I think I know why Drakken got it, but the version I'm thinking he's thinking of is actually from the sequel (compare the synths).

Why 291, of course. That thing has seen many ports in its day.

Also got 290 figured (wow, that was quite easy for 8 points!).

289, 289, 289... the one track I was most familiar, I knew the notes beforehand whilst listening to it, and I'm sill clueless.

A couple months after finally getting a 9 pointer, I finally got my first 8 pointer today. Number 177. Looking at a list of games to listen to the music from, I almost passed over that based on the name. I'm glad I didn't.

Argh, 290 is SO familiar. I know I've played that, or at least listened to the music. Maybe it'll come up in the Chiptune contest. For some reason I'm thinking Falcom.

Edit: Got it! I remember I got this soundtrack from a link in Drakken's sig a while back.

Yeah, that pretty much gave it away. =)

I should know 289, but I still don't =( Anyone kind enough to drop me whatever hint?

And it's funny how I discovered 100 only recently. What an awesome soundtrack!

Arg, I got another one wrong. But I believe this one to honestly be the same song, just in a port, so I've e-mailed him, and hopefully he overturns it. It's only got a 50% correct rate, so I'm guessing others have made the same guess as me.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Just got a healthy dose of points through playing Sega Genesis Collection to death (I KNEW I knew 245, and I'm fairly disgusted it took that long to figure out). Also got some monkeys off my back - 278 clicked quite suddenly, and 91 showed up in another guess-this-tune contest that ended recently. At any rate, I finally cleared 500 points! Woohoo!

P.S. Hmm...a vague hint for 289? Try to search for games with real-life locations as opposed to fantasy worlds.

Thanks. Still drawing a blank, though it should help narrow things down.

Regarding ports and such, it's always a better idea to guess the version the track came from. But in your case, the port I think you've guessed could be alright.

You've been doing the exact same thing. Every time I find a new track, I look at the standings, and you somehow just leaped back over me. Well, I'm back in the lead for now. (Well not really, Draconis has way too many points still)

I missed a couple easy ones, as well, like (I'm embarrassed...) #15. I guessed the wrong game in the series.
