Apart from Teleport Stones and Gyhsal Greens, there are a few items later on in the game that you'll want to refrain from selling. But it'll become pretty obvious. Just as with Weapons and Equipment, if a loot item sells for either 0 or 1 Gil you'll know that you'll want to keep it.

I was doing fine against said boss. I only lost 'cause I ran out of Hi-Potions (a god-send in boss battles). I had the boss on the close to the red zone before I died. I only use Cure if I absolutely have to. Two of my team uses one-handed weapons, so I'll grab Ice Shields for them.

The Feywood still scares me.

I sell all my loot save for Teleport Stones and Ghsyal(sp?) Greens.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I found them pretty easy. Demonsbane is so awesome I haven't even bought a new sword for Ashe yet.

Question. I just got out of a certain king's tomb to find there's a whole mess of new equipment, magic and the like that need to find their way into my inventory. So, what's going to be the best place to kill for profit right now? The merchant seems to have left from the front of the entrance to the tomb, and I don't want to use up a bunch of stones to keep on bouncing back and forth from here to there. The enemies in Giza (rains) don't seem worth it. Beefed up hyenas drop measly wolf pelts, and there are a bunch of elementals wisping about just waiting for me to trigger them with a gambit cure. I'm almost thinking I should head to the mines in the sky city. Anyone have a suggestion for me?

As an aside, this game is hurting for a try before you buy feature for equipment in shops. What reason could there possibly be not to show me all of the stat changes a new piece of armor is going to afford to me?

This will force the more obsessive-compulsive player to buy at least one of every piece of equipment in order to assure themselves that they have the most uber character setup possible before leaving to fight the giant whatever dragon and heading to the next town for more equipment shopping. It increases play time. Luckily, this game has decently fun battles.

I just beat two bosses pretty close to eachother...

The Tiamat and the Elder Wyrm.

While I beat both on my first try, the Elder Wyrm battle was long and arduoius and I ran out of Remedies by the time the battle was close to finishing, and half my team died

Still, at least I know I'm on the lower end of where I'm supposed to be at, for this point in the game.

Also, is there a reason why the Guns are so low in stats compared to the other weapons on sale... do they improve later on for the advanced Gun weapons? I like having a long-range powerful attacker and Baltheir with a Bowgun isn't quite that yet, hehe.

Guns have almost 100% accuracy, and I think they can penetrate all types of armor no matter what armor class the enemy is wearing, but I might be wrong, I have to check my guide again.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yea, guns are great because they always hit, and their damage is not affected by armor, etc. They cause the same damage to a low level magic caster as they do a high level armored boss. Plus the character can attack from far away and be out of range of area effect spells. But they take twice as long to attack than a sword. Since armor/defense has no affect on the damage, the 4 points of attack you gain with each upgrade actually adds a lot to the damage.

One of my characters has used guns from the very beginning and I just cast berserk + haste on him. He was great against enemies who were 10 levels stronger than me and was a consistent damage dealer. Don't use him as much now though since I stole a few Deathbringers.

Either Lhusu Mines or the Sand Sea. The sand sea has tons of those tusken raiders (:D) so you can easily stack up a whole bunch of crap to sell. However, the Lhusu Mines has skeletons, and the bones they drop sell for a ton each. Quality or quantity, you decide.

Now I need someone to do me a favour. I just won the final boss battle at the Shrine, and when I was heading into the cutscene where they get the UBER MAGIC ITEM, my dad came into the room. I paused the game and waited until he left, but I accidently SKIPPED the cutscene altogether. So...can someone tell me what happened at that part?? Put it in spoiler tags, of course.

After I got through that part, I went ahead and defeated the next boss. Was easier to defeat than the last boss.

Then I decided not to advance in the game and try my hand at killing some Marks. So I took on my first Rank 3 hunt, the giant tortoise thing at the rainy Giza Swamps. I fought that bloody thing for close to a frickin' HOUR with no Dispel or any of that sort that could have made the battle a whole lot easier. I ran out of Phoenix Downs and Eye Drops and was low on MP and almost ran out of Ethers and I barely made it out with my life. I never thought I'd actually manage to kill it. Remind me to stay far far FAR away from tortoises from here on. I hate hate hate hate hate hate HATE them. >_> :(

I tried out my brand spanking new Esper and damn, it looks even sweeter than the first one. These Espers give the FFVIII GF animations a run for their money. Damn impressive stuff.

So, I've been avoiding this thread for my entire playtime since I wanted to prevent any and all spoilers. But now I'm BACK.

Because, uh, well, I beat the game 75 hours completion time, and I stopped doing the Mark Hunts at Rank III... (And I highly recommend not facing the final boss overleveled, because if you want a challenge... you WILL get one at ~level 50)

Don't worry, no spoilers from me, but after the middle worried me about its direction, the storyline pulls everything together for epic win.

Once I get back to it, I'll be starting up Playthrough #2 for 100% completion Whee!

I got the 2nd set of Grilmore forgotten notes or whatever they are. I got them for 22000 surprisingly, instead of 25000. I got them at Eruyt village.

Hey guys, just a quick question. Is there a factor that determines when a new spell or technique appears in the shops? If I learn the liscenses for or around them, will they show up for purchase sooner? Or is it really just a matter of story progression. I'm at Hennes Mines now and I think its kind of weird how I don't have certain spells yet, like Haste, Fira, Revive, Renew, etc.

Aw why did you pay less?

I got my 2nd set at Jahara but I had to pay the 25,000...I think. Uh, I forget exactly...it wiped out my gil, though :x

Apparently each Grimoire is tied to a certain type of monster. Like the one set is for beasts and avions, one set is for undead, etc.

I think it just depends on a point and place in the storyline. I just got Haste, Fira/Blizzara/Thundara, and some others at Eruyt after returning from Henne.

It is a matter of story progression. You should check all the shops every now and then for new spells. You should be able to get Haste (which is a very awesome spell because you can "heal" slow with it) at the trader at Mt. Bur-Omisace, I think.

This game is pretty fun, now that I've pulled ToA's claws out of my back. I was wondering though...

How do you beat the 1st Demon Wall? I've already beat the second, and I'm trying to get the Demonsbane sword behind it that people say is real nice. Unfortunately, this clown manages to banish one of my party members and put another to sleep by the time his health is down to around half. Penelo, Vaan and Balthier are all level 30, and P + B have their first quickenings. The rest are 14-18.

I've heard folks say use quickening combos, but this shit confuses me. I pick the quickening and this is what happens:

1. Shows Penelo and Basch's names/moves

2. Rarely has the buttons to press

3. Shuffling only makes the ridiculously fast bar fall even faster.

4. Bar is depleted by the time the button does appear.

Any tips on how to make this work, or if I'm too weak to take on this thing?

Wowee, level 30? I only just started hitting level 30 with my characters in the jungle

But yeah Demonsbane rocks, gave it to Vaan and he's pretty much kicking ass, haven't found a better sword for him yet.

Quickenings worked for me but I literally just get lucky every time I use them in the game. Sometimes I will have names pop up immediately or right after the first shuffle. Other times I can't get ANYTHING. When it came to both Demon Walls, I had 2 Quickenings on two of the three people I used, one had one Quickening, everyone had full MP bars, so it was easier to get another chain in with the shuffle.

But there have been times where just nothing ever pops up for me regardless of having all the bars full. Sometimes I can chain up to 12 hits, sometimes I can barely chain 5 hits. It's just really random for me. I've seen people say they've chained 20+ hits and I have no idea how they did it. Even with all my characters having unlocked all of their Quickenings, I've never gotten past 15.

The only thing I can really think of is if you have more than one Quickening on characters, choose a Lvl. 1 move first to start it all off, then you'll have more MP for more chains before you have to Mist Charge. I often do that and I can get in 3 hits with just one character alone without having to shuffle, or just shuffling once.

Other than that...I guess you could button mash between shuffles :/

Also, different Grimoires go for different prices. They range from 19000 to 27000 Gil. And yea, they are for different types of monsters. I'm 86 hours into the game and I'm only at the Phon Coast. Vaan is level 42, Baltheir is 40, and Fran is 36. My next highest is Basch at level 33. I'm going to get Fran up to level 40 then I'm going to level up Basch and just switch them up. Good idea, or no?

After you beat Mateus you go into the inner sanctum and recieve the Sword of Kings. Then Vaan suggests that they test on the Dawn Shard since it is no longer useful to them to see if it can really destroy nethecite. The Dawn Shard begins to react violently as if scared of the sword. As Ashe raises the sword to strike the shard in half Rasler appears apparently telling her not to do it. She brings down the blade and MISSES saying this is the sword and let's go. She then asks Vaan if he saw him again but he replies with a no.
