Nextel Cup: Chase for the Cup 2006

Well, we are now three races into the 2006 Chase and I would have to say its been pretty exciting.

Its awesome to see Jeff Burton on top of things. I personally hope to see him win it all. It would also be cool to see Mark Martin win it.... Or junior..... but I guess only one person can win it all. So if I had to choose, Jeff Burton would be on top. Acctually, Denny Hamlin would be cool too.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Who is going to win the chase? And who is going to win at Talladega this weekend?

What were your biggest surprises this season? Most improved? Least improved? What was a surprise?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

What an outcome. I expected Jimmie Johnson to win again but would never have thought that his own teammate might knock him out of the running. I'm happy it brought Kasey Kahne up to 2nd.

The whole Vickers thing is shady... he's leaving the team soon, he kept talking about a win before then, and he practically blamed Jimmie saying he swerved to avoid Junior when it looked like he was in control and Junior was leaving room. I think Jimmie really showed a lot of maturity and patience in waiting till the last lap to make a move, but Vickers rushed it and showed bad sportsmanship.

And it's too bad that Jeff Burton got a flat tire and lost position and that Jeff Gordon was taken out in that first accident. Funny that Jimmie was also involved in that one being the first car to get loose when the disturbance propagated down.

All in all, Talladega is definitely an exciting race and I'm glad no one was seriously injured. As for the Chase, the damage was pretty bad and now that the points are closer, there's no telling what to expect. Burton and Gordon were the biggest losers in the ordeal while Kahne and Kenseth came furthest ahead from it. I'd say anyone in the top five is still in the hunt.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yep, it was wild.... and I think it was BS. I never liked Vickers in the first place, and this definitely threw him off my list, and probably many others. I think its pretty sad that two guys who need to get back into the chase end up getting spun out by a not chaser.... You are right, bad sportsmanship... and his explanation in victorylane was terrible. There was almost no truth to it.

The helicopter view tells all. Vickers was pushing Johnson waaayyyy to much in the first place and it was looking bad.. I wouldn't dedicate the race to Ricky at all....

Oh well, nothing we can do.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
