I hope eveything in the game is customizeable this time. It came close is SSBM, but I REALLY want to see a toggle where you can switch off stage deaths. That is deaths resulting in stage obstacles like Kraid or F-Zero Racers, etc. It's frustrating sometimes to try and have a clean battle and your only real option is the Final Battle stage.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Yeah, I would have found some of the stages more fun or rather my friends would have if you could turn off environmentals.
FELIPE NO |
Also, very few people play stages like Icicle Mountain or Rainbow Cruise because there is less actual fighting and more platforming and opportunism.

Rainbow Cruise and Pokemon floats are good examples of platforming levels done right imo. I think Icicle Mountain just had you jumping up too often to really do any fighting. I've had plenty of memorable fights on Rainbow Cruise and Pokemon floats though.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Yeah, Icicle mountain is probably the most hated level in SSBM. I see how they tie it in, but in a game like SSBM, it's just downright annoying. I do enjoy the stage interactions though, They make things interesting. Although an option to turn it off wouldn't bother me one bit. as long as it is an option.

I second this notion. Poke Floats was probably my favorite stage second to FDestination. I have the entire sequence of the entering and exiting of evey float memorized. EDIT: Take notes, this is apperently how to kill a thread, NAY, the entire Nintendo forum! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I was speaking idiomatically. |
Here's an idea; how about a Pilotwings stage? I picture it like, you're on the wings of a really big biplane (with two floors, as each of the wings count) and it always tilts and weaves as it flies through rings over the ocean. Also sometimes a hang-glider will come sailing by right next to it, giving people an added platform to stand on beyond the stage, sort of like the clouds in the Yoshi's Story stage in the very first game. Occassionally, it will land briefly on an island runway or sea platform, letting people jump off and fight on the land.
I don't know about you guys but I think it's an interesting idea. Most amazing jew boots |
That's a nice idea. There better be jetpacks flying around too. There was that one island stage where you had to land on targets. A few of those could pass by as platforms every now and then.
Hell, you could use the whole Pilotwings 64 USA stage at random locations to keep things interesting. FELIPE NO |

Maybe jumping through hoops could give off some bonuses or take away some damage.

Oh God, that's just a lame idea. No offence, but jumping through hoops while trying to avoid three other players, flying items, and other hazards sounds more like a pain in the ass than anything else.

I'd rather have jumping through hoops enable a different path for the fighting to take or something. That's much better than giving health back to you. Although if it increases items to appear on screen then that's not too terrible. Those are always up for grabs.

Yeah, there's enough ways to get health back. But I just don't like the idea of "jump through a hoop!" Surely they can come up with something more inventive.

That was the entire basis of Pilto Wings. I think they could have something to do with it in the game.
I like the idea of the changing of the couse of the level. that would be better than just looping the same background over and over. FELIPE NO |
Oh, right. Well, as long as it's kept to just the Pilot Wings stage, I'm cool with it.

Hmm, let me try and imagine this... B: Cannon shot (can be charged) Up+B: Birdman Forward+B: Jumble Hopper Down+B: Rocket Belt Super: Gyrocopter Firing the rocket belt right over someone is an effective smash attack; you jump and right before you land on somebody, you fire it and the blast shoots them away with fire damage. Doing a Smash version of this attack fires the stronger, blue boosters, but they're more narrow and hard to hit. This doesn't really propel you upward, rather, it just decreases your falling speed. The gyrocopter super has you in control the whole time; so basically you can temporarily move anywhere on the stage with the joystick, pressing any button to fire missiles at people. Also simply hitting them with the propellors hurts them too. The missiles are like Samus' missiles except they fire at a faster rate, and only in a straight line. They're easily dodged because they're small. There's nowhere I can't reach. |

Here's something else to ponder about...
Is this new Super Smash Bros. Brawl going to take the Melee system of everything being more rooted from gravity or the original where everything floated everywhere? Because there's quite a difference between the two. I personally liked the more rooted environment because it gave me more control, but I know some liked the floatiness for air juggles. Opinions? I was speaking idiomatically. |
There should be ways to access new areas in all of the levels. Like keys for Link, Pipes that actuall go to new areas for Mario, Warps for Samus, etc. It would simply be attaining a key and then running to the lock. No extra gameplay should really be added because of it becoming too complicated. Just simple unlocks within levels. Great idea though. Double Post: As for floatiness, I kind of like that from the first one, but it's too easy to get cheap with it. I guess I prefer real gravity. Gives the game a more harsh feel. Gravity is a harsh mistress . . . How ya doing, buddy?
