probably some new faction, something tells me maybe it's tied to those partrick zala terrorists since it takes place after the colony drop.

I hope there's some new factions in the next SEED. EA VS ZAFT VS Orb is kinda played out now.

When does GS Destiny OST 4 come out? Or has it already come out?

Sure, it's obvious she has a crush on him, but it doesn't seem like those feelings are returned; and with Fukuda's way of making a show, if two people like/love each other, it's pretty obvious (ie/Athrun and Cagalli making out, Kira and Fley having sex). I think the pic may just be some fanfic crap, cuz its stupid to have Athrun get with another woman all of a sudden when he was fighting to protect Cagalli & Orb.
Check out the GSD Wikipedia article under the "criticism" section:

Spoiler:
Quote:
Much criticism in the media and fanbase is concentrated at director Mitsuo Fukuda for making popular returning Gundam Seed characters (such as Kira) preeminent in favor of those newly introduced Seed Destiny characters. Animation director Yousuke Kabashima also critized Chikaki Morosawa in his blog, for shifting the storyline on the fly and habitually turning in scripts late, and also implied that she only had her job as chief writer because she was Fukuda's wife (a suggestion echoed by fans). Morosawa has also received heavy criticism from fans for abruptly writing Cagalli, previously an important, popular and strong-willed character, out of the story and ending her relationship with Athrun without explanation. This unexplained plot change was conducted without mitigating circumstances and little to no notice by any of the characters. Criticism of this change was exacerbated by a post-series interview in which she gave explanations that many fans felt to be dubious at best. A target of particular scorn is her assertion that Athrun would need to be the leader of his own nation for their romance to resume, even though logically such a situation would make a relationship more difficult (nations inherently have differing agendas, making a romance between their leaders an obvious conflict of interest).
At first when I saw the ending I thought they were intentionally leaving it unresolved. But it sounds like the upper people did decide to kill the romance. With hardly an ounce of writing effort, unfortunately. Cagalli got treated real, real bad by Destiny - not that Meryin got any real character development, either.

OST 4 has been out for about 2 months now.

Not sure if it's still seeded, otherwise you might have to grab it from their (nipponsei) irc channel.

Yay, some new information!!!

We can now kind'a figure out what DSSD is at least:

EDIT: Gunota has posted a translation for the story as well the bios for the 2 main characters and the mecha:

Quote:
Organizations:
Deep Space Survey and Development Organization (DSSD) - A group founded to survey & develop regions beyond the orbit of Mars. The Earth Alliance, PLANT, and neutral powers cooperated in its establishment though it is neutral with regard to the Alliance & ZAFT and has special jurisdiction. The fundamental principle is "The advancement of frontiers": to transcend all countries, organizations, religions, and races, sending that doctrine from the human species out to the far-reaches of space.

Phantom Pain - A special military force that answers to Logos, Blue Cosmos' supreme governing organization. The unit is a private army organized by Blue Cosmos. Blue Cosmos, thus far not getting the depended on military power from the Earth Alliance, formed the group as a way of directly embodying their personal intentions. Phantom Pain's parent organization is comprised of Alliance personnel & equipment. Notices issued from the Earth Alliance's upper echelon, in situations where goods and personnel are requested by Phantom Pain, are informal but are to be responded to without delay. With that assistance, Phanton Pain can take in provisions and furnishings wherever they go. But only Logos and representatives of Logos possess command authority over them. Even within the Alliance, only a tiny few of its leaders are aware of the particulars regarding Phantom Pain. As a private army, they aren't bound by the armistice treaty entered into by the Alliance and ZAFT. The treaty prohibits both the Alliance and ZAFT from having N-Jammer Cancellers, nuclear weapons, Mirage Colloid, loading ships with Phase Shift armor, and possessing nuclear-powered mobile suits but Phantom Pain disregards that and executes operations using ships that carry such things. And since they are funded behind the scenes by Blue Cosmos, the equipment they get is radical but extravagant.

Mecha:
GSX-401FW Stargazer - Affilated with DSSD.

GAT-X105E Strike Noir - A mobile suit specializing in close-range combat deployed by the Earth Alliance's 81st Independent Mobile Battalion (aka Phantom Pain). It's based on the X105 Strike and piloted by lieutenant junior grade Sven Cal Bayan. Integrated performance improvement measures on the unit were conducted by Actaeon Industries.

Characters:
Selene McGriff - 28-year-old female Coordinator. One of the engineering staff on the DSSD engineering development's GSX-401FW Stargazer Project. "Mankind must set out to space." Those words are Selene's guiding principle. As is the case with many DSSD staff, she was born and raised in space and her parents are also members. Bright but has a strong tendency to be somewhat egotistical. Once she decides what her goal is, she won't be happy until she achieves it and, that being the case, she won't choose a way of meeting her objectives without great effort. Strong-minded and unafraid of being criticized for her methods. Aggressive at times and, as a result, much of her nature is to disregard her partner's ideas though if someone tries that with her, she'll be reluctant and impassionate. Nevertheless, since the DSSD is an organization with a high ratio of eccentrics and freaks among the personnel, Selene hasn't especially changed.

Sven Cal Bayan - 19-year-old male Natural. A lieutenant junior grade in the Earth Alliance's 81st Independent Mobile Battalion (Phantom Pain). Pilot of the mobile suit GAT-X105E Strike Noir. Part of a special combat MS platoon with another 2-3 people. Orphaned due to an incident when he was very young. Afterwards, he became affiliated with Phantom Pain as an elite combat member for Coordinator extermination warfare. What's the reason for his intense hatred of Coordinators...and what is the past of this cruel fighting machine?
Sheesh, after all that it's hard to imagine that they're gonna fit all this and more in just 3 episodes of only 15 minutes running time each. There's enough junk in here for another complete series!!

I guees that's GSD for you... every day the story changes...
Spoiler:
but knowing Fukuda, Athrun and Cagalli will magically be together again before the end of the series...maybe. Doesn't matter though, i dont think there will be another GS story, cuz no matter who comes, Kira will just go godly on all their asses. If a whole ZAFT army couldn't take him on, nothing can. The only way they can continue the story is if another samn PLANTs falls one earth again and actually Kills the original GS cast off. Atleast then the bad guys will stand a chance >.>

I just hope the story ends with some one explaining WTH BEING THE ULITMAE COORDINATOR MEANS!!! o_O

Pretty much my point of view too. Cagalli took a backseat towards Athrun in GSD with Meyrin taking over and from memory Cagalli practically handed Athrun over to Meyrin halfway through the series. I was sort of dissapointed about it but Meyrin seems alright and we can only hope she'll be more decisive than Cagalli was in Destiny.

I saw a joke plot summary somewhere of what a sequel to GSD would be and it went something like this.

- Series starts.
- Lots of people die. (Heliopolis/Junia 7 crash)
- Athrun gets suckered by the bad guys.
- Kira kicks ass in fights.
- Kira's suit is destroyed and he is presumed dead.
- Kira returns in tricked out new Gundam.
- Cue T.M. Revolution song.
- Kira wtf owns hordes of enemy suits in said tricked out Gundam.
- Athrun sees the error of his ways and jumps ship.
- Clyne Faction fight against everyone to save the day.
- End series.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I thought it was explained at the end of Seed? Major spoilers for the end of the series:

Spoiler:
My impression was Kira's real dad, Dr. Hibiki, was frustrated by genetic engineering's attempts to influence births because the human factor kept screwing it up. You can see in Episode 45 people complaining that they paid good money for a different eye colour, etc. etc., but that a human birth still has too many variables for co-ordinaters to be made-to-order.

So Hibiki wanted to grow perfect humans in mechanical wombs, where he'd control all the variables. But he couldn't get it working and lots of his manufactured specimens kept dying. So, eventually he ripped Kira out of his mom's womb and stuck him into the process, and it worked. Because of this special process, Kira is superior even to other co-ordinators and is basically genetically perfect. Admittedly all of that isn't outright said, but I read between the lines in the flashbacks (especially in episode 45) and it makes sense. Hibiki's purpose was just to push humanity higher and further, "because there's happiness in being better" - nothing indicates there was any further motivation to Kira's creation (like some sinister plot from some group).

Rau Le Creuset mocked Kira about this, because so many failed attempts were made to create humans before him. And in Destiny Rey was like "you must be destroyed because everyone would want to be like you" and "you should never have existed" (presumably because of all the failed trials before him). But perhaps they're also bitter because Dr. Hibiki made Le Creuset to help raise money for the research that made Kira.

If you wanted to stretch things a bit, you might saw that Rau/Rey embody determinism/pre-destination because they were born doomed. Whereas Kira, who was born perfect and can do almost anything well, fights for free will and self-determination.

...but they've never really explained what going SEED means, it's true. Except that it involves genetics and destiny or something.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I see SEED Mode as something similar to New-Type.
Or maybe when they were trying to create perfect coordinators they really were looking for something like a permanent SEED mode so you don't need to search for self actualization (reach your full potential) to activate it.

Except that Newtypes didn't have a "mode". They were Newtypes all the time (state of being, rather than a mode). Morosawa wasn't much of a writer, so she and Fukuda never really bother explaining a lot of the stuff. It's similar to the "bio-sensor" in Zeta Gundam. Never explained, and written out of the Gundam continuity after Zeta and in the third Zeta movie (or at least, that's what I hear). That and Fukuda confirms that there are a couple of Newtypes left around the CE universe. Flaga being one, in particular. And apparently Kira, too, if Destiny is to be believed.

Not really. The idea that Coordinators are supposed to be newtypes hearkens back to the idea of Enhanced Humans (or Cyber-Newtypes, if you prefer). Real Newtypes were different. Basically, Newtypes were supposed to be pretty much unstoppable if used in war. ZAFT is strong, but not unstoppable.

Also remember that both Fllaga and Klueze were Newtypes and neither were coordinators. I think Newtypes are pretty much few and far in between. Many possess abilities such as prenatural skills and senses (even a sixth sense was suggested by some people). Maybe they are born with this ability, or perhaps it awakens in some individuals. We never knew if Fllaga and Klueze were born Newtypes. In the case of Kira, he showed no such abilities in SEED, yet in Destiny he began to evolve, even being able to control Dragoons to the point of utter invincibility. Nobody could touch him!

Of course we can argue and discuss forever since the whys and wherefores were pretty much ignored in the story. No explanations will ever be forthcoming I guess.

Some news from Gunota:

Quote:
From Hobby Shop Midori. The first run of the HG Strike Noir will come with a DVD catalog that features a C.E. 73 Stargazer introductory promo video and a Hobby Division merchandise video clip.
also in the same entry:

Quote:
The first run of the 1/100 Legend Gundam comes with a new type of stand with connecting parts to support 4 kits (the 1/100 Legend, Infinite Justice, Destiny, and Strike Freedom).
Hopefully they'll be releasing some good quality pics for Strike Noir and 1/100 Legend soon.

Also, the 1/100 Infinite Justice will be out this May, around the 8th or so.

Surprised no one posted about it yet.

Gundam SEED goes theatrical

http://aeug.blogspot.com/
Quote:
Rumors on 2ch said to be from the Sony Music Anime Fes' 06 are that it was announced that there'll be a Gundam SEED movie.

It is known, through a radio commercial for this month's Newtype, that the magazine has "big Gundam SEED news" though early issues don't appear to have come out yet to confirm what exactly that news is.

Edit: Sunrise confirms the rumors, stating this will be the first completely original Gundam feature film since Gundam F91 came out 15 years ago. Mitsuo Fukuda will be the director.

Update 2: Based on people who attended the Anime Fes, Shinn Asuka, Cagalli Yula Atha, Lacus Clyne, Athrun Zara, and Kira Yamato were featured with narration "their path takes us.." to a screen officially announcing the theatrical production. TM Revolution apparently topped off the event by saying "See ya at the movies" to the crowd.

More Gunpla news from Gunota Headlines, or a few pics to be precise!!

Check out the pics courtesy of The Gundam Base.Side 1 (Korean website):

Strike Noir - 1/144 HG kit

Infinite Justice - 1/100 kit

Note all the weapons revealed for the Strike Noir Gundam. All them crazy spikes and cables..... o_O

Also note the last pic for the Infinite Justice set is unpainted (meaning that's what it looks like when you put it together straight from the box - no paints or markers).

1/100 Infinite Justice should be out now. Not sure on Strike Noir......

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Some more news from Gunota regarding CE73 Stargazer:

Quote:
ITmedia +D put up a small article on the upcoming SEED OVA, CE73 Stargazer. The article confirms that Bandai Channel will release ep1 in July with the DVD version coming out as well.
Release schecule:

Ep 1 - 15 minutes long, July
Ep 2 - 15 minutes long, Aug
Ep 3 - 15 minutes long, Sept

Edit: Bandai Namco's press release says the DVD will come in the Winter. The stated goal for Stargazer is to gain new fans by having this be the first Gundam to be initially offered over the Net. The cast so far...

Selene McGriff - Sayaka Ohara
Sven Cal Bayan - Daisuke Ono
Sol Ryuune L'ange - Jun Fukuyama
Well, I am kind'a looking forward to the series (even if it's only 3 episodes long) just to see what they can offer in this side-story. Still curious to know what exactly the Stargazer is. A mobilesuit? A vessel of some sort? Satellite? Weapon?

Ok, so I went to chinatown today. Went to look at gundam models since they're tax free in chinatown. I saw I-Justice and they were selling for $40.. That's pretty messed up since they use to always sell 1/100 models cheaper than that. It was also first edition so the stand is included but whatever. I decided not to buy since my sister convinced me not to get. And $40 for a non MG is kinda pricey. So I went home and looked at the site of another anime store in the city. They're selling I-Justice for $30 plus tax. That's a bit more like it but I'm use to not having tax but it's still cheaper. But when I checked hlj.com they showed I-J to be like 23 USD..
I also saw the FAZZ, after I saw the FAZZ I was kinda leaning towards that instead of I-Justice. It was $65.. According to hlj, it should be like $10 cheaper but I think I'd get it, after all it's the FAZZ we're talking about.

The official CE.73 Stargazer site has been updated with 2 new mecha!!!

CE.73 Stargazer Official website - mecha

A translation from Gunota Headlines:
Quote:
Mecha:
Blu Duel
"A unit developed by Actaeon Industries based on the GAT-X102 Duel. Its back is equipped with large thrusters and is enhanced with exceptional mobility and armor. Excels in close-quarters combat with weapons concealed inside its shoulder armor, arms, and underside of its shield. Further, in contrast to the Assault Shroud on ZAFT's original Duel, the Blu Duel's reinforced armored entire body has PS armor."

Verde Buster
"A unit developed by Actaeon Industries based on the GAT-X103 Buster. The cannons that were on its hips were moved to the shoulders so the hips were equipped with newly developed beam cannons. With the increase in firepower, reinforced armor, and its bayonettes, it's close-combat ability has been upped considerably."

Characters:
Edmund du Clos (in addition to previously posted info)
"Bachelor. Retired from the army when the war ended in C.E. 71 and was appointed security personnel in the DSSD's Technology Development Center on the outskirts of Fortaleza, South America. At the time he retired, he had been a lieutenant commander. Has a strong sense of responsibility and takes good care of others. Because of that, he is the kind of person who gets unnecessarily involved in things. And so when his sister's son was orphaned, he offered to raise the boy himself. As someone who was once a soldier, he naturally has much resentment towards his ZAFT battlefield rivals."

Mudie Holcroft
Shams Coza
I still don't see how 3, 15-min, episodes are gonna do this show any justice....There's a lot of content in this series.....

What content?

They've developed these MS descriptions for Seed and Destiny, too, but didn't include them in the shows. Just the mobile suit content is almost entirely unimportant. The important characterizations can be explained in character dialogue in about 5 minutes. The unimportant characterizations have habitually been left out. So far, there is very little actual show content being described.

Guys, I wanna ask a question about the Gundam series, but I don't wanna creat a new thread so I appolozie for borrowing this place.
My question is : Do all the Gundam series relate to each other as one long film, or they are actually saperate series with their own story line and characters? Whether they relate or not, where should I start?

There's nowhere I can't reach.
