What and how many processes do you have running in the background, how much RAM do you have, and what sort of games are you trying to play?
What graphics card? There could be a multitude of reasons why the games freeze, least of all, I think, is a defective hard drive, since, as you said, it is set up properly. Jam it back in, in the dark.  |

This looks more like you have either a defective motherboard, defective SATA drivers, or a defective hard drive; not that the drive can't handle the load.
Where did you get this? Is it brand-spanking new? Did the manufacturer have any warranties? There's nowhere I can't reach. |

Two drives on the same IDE cable had better not be a problem at all. I do that sort of thing all the time, and have never had any troubles.
Just make sure that the jumpers are set properly. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
