I had that problem too, what you do is quit the authorization thing and installation all together, start Media Connect and then select Music/Pictures on your Xbox 360 and it will detect the computer and the 360 will then show up as a device in Media Connect which you then have to add, and just select what folders to share.

So in other words you get your Xbox 360 to find your PC and not the other way round which fails for some reason when you run media connect setup and it attempts to find your Xbox 360,

How ya doing, buddy?

I'll make a more detailed post for you and the other folk who have encountered the same problem.

1) Sorry as an addition to my post make sure you have the following services started and running in Windows Xp, Universal Plug and Play Device Host, SSDP Discovery Service and HTTP SSL.

To do so go start -> Run -> Type in services.msc (Set them to automatic and click ok and restart your PC or start the service manually).

2) Goto www.xbox.com/pcsetup and download Media Connect.

3) Start the installation but quit when it fails to authorise your Xbox 360.

4) Run Media Connect make sure your firewall is allowing it to operate.

5) Make sure 'Folder Sharing' is running in Media Connect, click the 'enable folder sharing button' in Media Connect.

5) Whilst Media Connect and Folder Sharing is running on your PC; on your Xbox 360 select 'Music' and it will attempt to find your PC and your done, if it does not, select test connection, and once thats done give it another go and the second time it should work if it didn't the first.

6) When the 360 pops up in Media Connect 'allow' the device to be shared to.

7) Choose which folders to share and you are finished, just make sure Folder Sharing is enabled when you start Media Connect otherwise the Xbox 360 will not be able to connect. (Also the above services as well).

How ya doing, buddy?

If that still does not work check this forum; in this thread they actually fix your problem which is a fairly common one http://www.wmcplayer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86

Plus make sure all of the services in step one are set to automatic and are started. Especially Universal Plug and play host that is the most important and apparently that causes the most trouble.

As a last gasp.....

What you do is firstly make sure the 3 services in step 1 are enabled (and are on automatic) . Make sure Wmccds.exe is not being blocked by your firewall (not sure which you use) or open these ports:

TCP - 2869, 10243
UDP - 1900, 10280, 10281, 10282, 10283, 1028

But you can turn on Folder Sharing another way instead of step 5.

Go Start -> Run -> type in services.msc scroll down to Windows Media Connect Service double click and set it to Automatic then select Ok, restart your PC and Folder Sharing will be running automatically on startup, sometimes it takes a few minutes to start up if you are sharing a ton of music. Start up Media Connect wait till its finished indexing and is started and then do Step 6.

If all else fails reinstall Windows Media connect and call MS support. Don't worry it took me over an hour to get my Xbox 360 to connect the first time. If it still doesn't work go lay a big steamy dump on Bill Gates face.

My mission is to make your 360 and PC work together Skills.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
