Audio recording

My sister is having a wedding in a month. I'm gonna try to record some sounds from the band playing at the reception. Is there a way I can just tap in to their switch?

So, I need to know a program that I can use to record and edit these sound files (preferably in flac format (or another lossless format)). What kind of app would you recommend>

Joseph

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I will be using a laptop (yes, sterio). I can't figure out windows recorder, you can only record 60 seconds easily. I'm thinking about using audacity. Free, bottom line...

There's nowhere I can't reach.
