[Anime] Air Gear: THE GRINDING

I really enjoyed this one, as BigBlah said, I'll watch this for the music alone if nothing else. Especially the opening, I've had it playing over and over since I got it from this thread.

Is it just me or does Ikki look an awful lot like Rock Howard from Mark of the Wolves/King of Fighters?

I wouldn't mind seeing some more of Spitfire. I've only read the first couple of chapters of the manga, since I don't want to spoil the anime, but I'm hoping they'll be able to fit everything into the anime because I'm interested now in just how far he goes.

Also, I noticed that Spitfire's voicing is done by the same person who does Inui from PoT. At least I think it is, I don't understand a word he's saying but the tone is very similar.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

In all fairness the amount of changes they've made to the story so far, I'm not sure if they'd even follow the way he gets around it in the manga. Don't get me wrong though, enjoying both immensely. It's kinda like Jet Set Radio the anime lol.

I'm not so sure she's a bimbo as much as she plays a bimbo. She definately has underlying reasons for hanging around naked all the time, but I don't know how sincere she is about it, particularly after seeing how the groups treat her.

No, I don't mean it like that, I mean she's not just there to help him for his own good, she has reasons for it, (as was mentioned by I think Mikan that she was all over the different road kings) either because she's using him or because she wants to get all of the kings back together.

It was Ikki vs the Skullsaders. Ikki won by using Buccha's signature move on the walls. Very impressive. Can't wait for ep 7.

Ikki joining Simca's team wont be that bad but I prefer Simca joining Ikki's Team. I get the feeling Ikki will make some crazy ass moves by combining his rivals',teammates' moves. At least thats what I think so far.

And I'm fairly certain Simca is already in her own team, I remember someone mentioning Simca of the Swallow, I assume thats the name of her team.

Sorry, don't get me wrong I wasn't having a go at you about the spoilers, I just like to watch episodes from scratch. I'll probably avoid reading the manga though till the anime is done though.

I haven't seen the manga so I can't say anything about the different styles of drawing but I know its not incredible, but its passable and as someone said earlier, the direction they went with the music was fantastic. I'd even watch it just for the music and I like the way the story is going as well.

Thats really disappointing if they're only intending 13 episodes. I could see them having trouble finishing this series in 26 episodes, let alone 13. Perhaps they're seeing how popular it becomes before committing to a full season.

Even if it was a 26-episode season, I don't see how they would bring the anime to end. The manga has 14 volumes and is still ongoing.

On an upside, this means we get the OST faster. Though I'd like to see exactly where it finishes up to, but I can't see him becoming the Wing/Sky/Whatever it is king in 13 episodes.

Exactly. He hasn't even raced a A class person yet and from what Simca was saying he's going to have to go up against a lot of different people. In 13/26 episodes? I can't see it happening. That said, I'd be just as happy to see the series stretch to two seasons as long as the music stays good, the story continues and the animation perhaps improve slightly. But hey, at least we don't have to worry about filler.

As to the manga, www.stoptazmo.com has it, I noticed when I was grabbing the new Prince of Tennis.

So the ep had the guy in the wheelchair.

From what I understand, he's Rika's ex-boyfriend who hurt himself ATing and he's in a wheelchair now. The show is definately picking up a fair bit now plotwise and moving towards something happening.

Also, I need that OST. Particulary for the songs that play at 16:02 in nine, 17:09, 19:30 from episode eight and 11:25 from ep ten.

Its the 27th of August I believe. However, I keep thinking 27th of July for some reason and getting excited because its not far off. This irritates me to no end.

I don't see him getting too far in the story in this season. I haven't read the manga, but even with the plot advancing a bit in the last few episodes I don't think it'd be possible for him to reach A class in 26 eps. They mentioned in the episodes that you have to win 3 equal class battles to advance a class and so far they've only had one. Hopefully they'll get a bit more interesting once they move up to other classes where its not just a straight race.

On the plus side, a second season means a chance to improve the show a bit and a second OST. The animation does seem to be a little hit and miss sometimes, like when

Ikki is up against the Sabeltiger captain and he jumps over her.

The animation during that part looked excellent, wheres sometimes it can be a bit too basic. But still. Its a fun series to watch and its flaws can be overlooked, since they're mostly minor and the music is excellent.
