I was kind of expecting Hidan to go and injure himself more (and thus his parner) when seeing Shikamaru was still alive… although he’d probably have cancelled his jutsu by then.

As for the Fuuton Rasengen… it’s a bit disappointing he’s already used it. Takes away a bit of suspense, at least when compared to when he used Rasengen the first time.

Anyway, I’m still wondering about that line way back in Chapter 251 (p14?), where Jiraiya says to Naruto, “Don’t use that Jutsu.” I’m still waiting to see that, but I get the feeling this has been forgotten.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It alludes to Naruto's new technique not being complete, but I'm not too satisfied with the way Hidan goes.

This made me laugh. Naruto screws up, just like how he used to before. I didn't expect this to happen, but by not being perfect and having to work for his goals, I feel he maintains an element of humanity that many of us can identify with. In short: it still manages to stay interesting.

I just watched the last filler arc up to episode 220 (I just wish this had been part of the official manga -so much potential wasted), but what I saw after the credits seems most promising. It's a 1 hour special, so I hope it won't be filler as Nazpyro says...

I actually didn’t mind that they decided to flesh things out a bit. It might have been unnecessary, but as they managed to only cover a single manga chapter in a double episode, it probably means less chance of the episodes catching up to the manga and hence less filler episodes. Instead we get filler segments in the anime proper, which is a lot more tolerable (and goes largely unnoticed unless you’re following the manga). Come to think of it, the events of the Gaara arc are set in motions, so it’s more like 2 chapters, but out of order.

Still, it’s a good start even though some of the order of happenings seemed a little mixed up.

I was sure Naruto met with Shikimaru and Temari after the Bells fight. I also don’t remember Jiraiya and Tsunade watching this battle.

Seems to be sticking to the 1 chapter/episode format. Sakura/Naruto vs Kakashi felt much too dragged out, but I'd expect Deidara vs Gaara to finish by the next episode. I suspect they'll have done something for upcoming the Sasori vs Kankourou fight, too.

A little freaky, but hopefully we'll see some more about Orochimaru's past in the coming chapter(s). As one of the principle baddies for so long, I've always felt he was a little underdeveloped in the character stakes.
