[PC] Gunbound - REVIVAL THREAD

For those of you who preferred the original GB over the craptacular WC, you could give "silent gunbound" a shot. It's basically a private server trying (fairly successfully) to backwards engineer GB. It runs basically the same as the old game does. There aren't as many people on it, but get a couple of friends online and it's a good time.

Ape and I occasionally still play on it, but it's finals week so I probably won't be on Gunbound at all until the 13th.

I'm fairly certain you can play on both simultaneously, but I don't play on WC, so I'm not 100% sure. I think it's been mentioned that you can though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The problem I have is that power is actually a bit different in WC, and it basically fucks my shot up completely. That and damage is ridiculous, the two new mobiles suck, and other problems. But yea, Silent Gunbound doesn't have as many people on it.

You can't play it via lan without somehow hosting your own server and other mess. In other words, not really worth it.

Do enough people from GFF actually play WC to give me a reason to install that devil game again on my computer? Silent Gunbound is nice, but I swear I'm the only english speaker that plays on it. I might just wait for the North American servers to come out, as that will hopefully reduce the amount of non-english speakers, but knowing the Softnyx idea of time, there's no telling when that'll actually happen.

It occurs to me that you might not recognize me when I'm adding your names. I'm Hedonism in WC, decided a name change was appropriate.

I'm not sure if I can bring myself to touch this until the American server comes out. Gunbound just becamse completely unenjoyable for me when WC came out. Pretty much everyone I played with (that I wanted to play with) had quit by that point as well. But hey, if I bring myself to install the game, the nick's still Hedonism.

Why do we need to open a webpage to play gunbound revolution? Either I'm doing this horribly wrong, or they've made this game a complete pain in the ass to play.

You also can't say ho, or anything that includes it. Might want to cut these words out of your Gunbound vocabulary: shoot, shot, hot, horrible, hope.

I personally get really fucking frustrated when this game tells my my sentance is inappropriate. I'm never a big fan of censors in games because it's more annoying when they're circumvented than if someone just uses the word. Who here would rather have someone say "fuk u, u suk a$$"? I was hoping GBNA would reflect a tiny bit the freedom of speech we have in North America. Maybe they could have made the censor a personal option, but they way they implement it is god awful.

Well I played a couple of games, and other than the weblauncher, it doesn't seem any worse than the GBWC. As long as you choose maps (I cycle through the ones that don't suck), you can avoid the terrible B sides from WC and the filter was far less restrictive than I imagined. I should actually be playing from time to time now so send me a buddy invite so we can get some old school GFF games goin.

It's funny cause now they block some filter circumventions as well. You have to wonder if they realize what an incredibly slippery slope they're on right now.

The problem isn't the filter, but rather how it's implemented. All they need to do is make it optional and only censor words, not entire phrases. There's nothing more annoying than typing repetition or circumvention in a phrase and having it blocked because it contains tit and cum. It's like they programmed the game with the assumption we were all 10.

I played on them for a bit and I prefer them the the GB servers. However, no one else playing on them speaks english, which almost everyone on GBNA does. Not sure if the tradeoff's worth it, but all you can really do is 1v1 on the private server.

I vote GBNA simply because I play with other people in addition to GFF, all of whom play on GBNA. Also, my account name is Qwazi again.

Be sure to check out #gunbound on irc.xelium.net. A bunch of the GFF gunbound players hang out there to find games (since buddy lists are terribly ineffective).

I will be making a guild of some sort when they become available (21st) and need to toss around some name ideas. The guild will not be GFF only (not sure if any of you want to join it anyway), but will be limited to people who I don't hate. A couple of ideas are "Surious" and reviving "usk" (not really sure about that one), but guild names are tricky things, so feel free to toss me some ideas.

As I said before, I'm not making a GFF guild, although it's certainly open to everyone here. I'm now thinking about using "Wut" as the name.

The game despite it's many flaws was still fun to play. Honestly though, there are just much better things to spend my time doin at college.

I'm still on for about 30 minutes every other day, almost always on the account "Qwazi".
