One suggestion, after you get your braces off WEAR THE GODDAMN RETAINERS LIKE THEY TELL YOU TO. I didn't because they're a pain in the ass, and I will always have 1 tooth crooked because of it. *cries*

Yeah, it's easy to forget to wear them. I had braces when I was 10, and I had to wear the retainers for two years after that. By the time I started middle school when the majority of my classmates wore braces, I had mine removed completely and only had to wear the retainer once a week or so before never needing them again.
I remember that after my monthly visits when they tightened the braces, my gums were a little sore for one or two days. I could still eat, but with slight discomfort.
