Well, that depends - what is it you want to do to them?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I use paint shop pro myself. I find the UI a lot easier to interact with, although it doesn't have all the functionality or professionalism of Photoshop.

What I really want is to merge 2 photo's to be one, with layers or whatever it is called. Like I got a picture a friend and want to like example put my head or whatever in that other pic, if you get it:P

Photoshop is the prime program to use for photo manipulation. Spend a while getting to grips with it and it'll be fine - What you're doing sounds simple; just erase the area around your head, paste it onto a new layer and touch up the edges so it fits on your friend's shoulders. Simple enough.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Yeah, for what you want to do Photoshop really is your best bet. If you're looking for tutorials, everyone and their sister has written one, so you could probably google "photoshop tutorials" and find what you want.
I don't know if Paint Shop Pro or any of the others are that much easier, because I've hardly used them, but they are similar in what they do so you could always check them out and see if they work any better. But honestly, a little Photoshop experience goes a long way... Most amazing jew boots |
For that task, I'd say PSP (Paint Shop Pro) and Photoshop are equals. It's a basic cutout/copy/paste job. I use PSP7 extensively, especially for basic manipulation as it's far more lightweight than Photoshop. However, Photoshop can do some more advanced enhancements if you're looking for that. Take an hour just to experiment, in either program, and it'll go a long way.

For basic stuff like that there are any number of photomanipulation programs that will do what you need. GIMP and PSP both cost about a thousand times less than Photoshop and will work great.
I've avoided Photoshop for as long as possible, but after working with CS2 on my Photos for the last month or so and seeing the magical stuff it has (the healing brush is a godsend, the shadows/highlights tool is insane, lens distortion correction, the works.....) I may break down and buy a student license of it. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
The GIMP is a great program, I don't think it's as powerful as Photoshop, but that makes it easier to use. It's free, too, which is good. Another good program is Paint.NET, which is free, but requires Microsoft's .NET framework to use.
How ya doing, buddy? |
I'd like to second a few things already stated:
Free: GIMP Commercial: Photoshop ...you'll find tons of tutorials for both. ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
HIGHLY recommending GIMP here for an easier and cost-free program. =)
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
