Okay, here's the deal. I just bought a DVD burner for the primary purpose of backing up my files. But after getting it, I thought, "what the hell, why don't I actually try burning some watchable DVDs?". So I started looking stuff up and I'm hopelessly confused.
This is what I want to do:
- Burn some video files. Duh, that's the main thing I want to do. I figure that it'd take some file type conversion of some sort, but I'm pretty sure I can handle that. I'm hoping to get 9-12 episode one-hour series on a single disk. The original files aren't in tip-top quality, though, and I'm willing to make whatever sacrifice for this.
- Include optional subtitles, because most of the video files are in foriegn languages. These videos are mostly "soft subbed", with the subtitles in *.sub and *.srt files.
- Possibly include a menu and chapter... markers, or whatever they're called. Those would definitely be convenient because of the subtitles and multiple files on a disk. Because I like things done nicely, I'd like novel things like background music and pretty graphics, but I realize that's probably way over my head at this point.
I've looked on sites like
this and they've only gotten me more confused. Is there some software that'll make this much simpler (there HAS to be something...), or will I just have to stumble through this? I really don't know what I'm doing at this point, so any help would be appreciated!
Jam it back in, in the dark.
