Know how vs know what
Ok, simple question for anyone. Do you have more intellect, or more intelligence. Are you able to do things without the understanding of what you are doing. Do you know what something means but are unsure how to do it.
Personally I carry more intelligence. Y tu? Jam it back in, in the dark.

Enjoy your ban.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Um, please elaborate more next time.
I'm getting the impression "wit vs. guts" here. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I forgot where on the internet i was. How about this.
Duh vs eerhhhh I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I think he's proposing a basic question of "Intelligence vs. Common Sense"; that is, do you have more knowledge, but are unable to apply it all the time, or are you just able to do things, but are unsure as to the reasonings behind it? Personally, I carry far more intelligence than I do common sense. I know a lot about a lot, but when it comes to doing something, I take the directions out of my brain and think about it logically instead of being practical. Therefore, it sometimes takes me a while to do something that's pretty simple.

Not that the OP did a good job with this thread, but I like the Max Biggs version.
I tend to be pretty even. In a general sense, I have more intelligence than common sense, but what I am intelligent in, I apply very well. You almost need to consider experience into this equation however. I tend to be very intelligent and productive BUT ONLY with previous experience. For instance, in school if I ever saw a math problem demostrated, I could follow it perfectly. But if I was expected to apply a principle in a way I had never seen before, I would fail miserably, even though I had a good understanding of the principle. So I tend to be intelligent, lacking common sense, and making up for it with experience. Same with me... Intelligence seems to reign over my common sense. It happens alot for me.
When it comes to friends asking me for help, I'd usually know what to do in that certain situation. When it's more of those, "Duh, it's right there" situations, that rely on the use of common sense, i'd usually miss it. <_< I'm not one to find the the obvious. I just state it. I have more common sense than knowledge. I've taken apart many machines without having taken classes or read user manuals, and figured out what their problems are. When it comes to defining my exact abilities, I look like a retard because I don't know any of the proper terminology for what I do.
"How did you fix your car stereo?" "I saw that thing was black, so I pulled it out, took one out of another radio, and stuck it in." "So you replaced the transistor?" "Um... Sure." Jam it back in, in the dark. |
