Rereleases - PlayStation 2 the Best

What sets these rereleases differently from the original outside of its uglier cover due to the addition of "borders"? I'm thinking about getting Zero, but I noticed there's a 3,990 yen difference between the two with the original at 7,140 and the "PlayStation 2 the Best" at 3,150.

Does the rerelease only hold the DVD with no manuals or something? Assuming the two are the same (minus the crappier cover as stated), would you buy the rerelease or go for a second-hand copy of the original? Discuss.

I apologize for making a Q&A kind of thread, I hope I've made it open enough so that some discussion can actually be had after my question has been answered.

How ya doing, buddy?

well I think this is just like the Ps2 greatest hits, it just if the game sold really well (I doN,t know how many copy) then it become greatest hits and a re-release in this category at a lower price and are almost guaranteed to not become out-of-print till the ps2 will last.

if I'm not mistaken, the ps2 the best is probably just the Japanese greatest hits and the game is just cheaper, it's exactly the same, with manual and all (some game may had so bonus in the Greatest hits edition, but most of the time it's the exactly the same)

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If this is just like Greatest Hits/Platinum I am surprised you have never come across this selection. I'm sure if it is out on this selection they will be selling it at that price, if you look around you might be find the original box at that same price, I don't often see them retail at the original price. Many people obviously go for that if they can find it obviously because of the hideous borders etc. Then again, that is probably quite a difference in money so look around for the original at that low price.

I'm not sure if in PC games (perhaps of titles long, long ago), repackaged bundles could have manuals left out, but that is a different case as there usually is a manual on the CD anyway. Other companies often do repackaging and labelling as 'Classic', 'the best' whatever, I can't imagine for console games that they would leave the manual out. I'm sure the manual cover opts for those ugly borders too.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hahaha. Well, to be quite honest, I only recently purchased a PlayStation 2 (for the sole purpose of playing Xenosaga Episode III after having to play Episodes I and II on my cousin's PS2), so I have had little exposure to the PS2's section in stores.

Yeah, my brother couldn't find it while he was in Hong Kong. This is why I'm thinking about ordering it through Amazon.

Yeah, I've had experiences with the ol' "manual in CD" for PC games.

I hope not...

But then if they did this, maybe I'd rather not have the manual.

I don't get what the big deal is with the coloured borders. If the contents of the disc are the same and the game doesn't play any differently, who really cares what the packaging looks like?

Case in point: Castlevania-Symphony of the Night. People call it one of the best side-scrollers ever, and I got it for $10 as a GH rerelease. Green border, so what? Great game, loads of fun to play, and I don't even know where the case is right now. Disc is in a binder with the rest of my PSX games.

I was speaking idiomatically.

It is not my custom to go where I am not invited.

I know it doesn't really matter, but I'm sure there's people out there who like to own the original. Maybe they want people to think they paid full price for it new whatever.

How about the PlayStation? That too had a rereleases selection as well. Perhaps you are new to gaming?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Question of worth for collectors. Having a first run edtion of a particular game is considered a lot more pricey.

It just looks better amidst my collection of games.

I guess this doesn't apply for you since you keep your games in a binder.

No, I don't own a PlayStation either, just an N64. Back when I gamed more, I was primarily a PC gamer.
