Night Watch DVD

Anyone planning on getting this tomorrow? I heard its great. I am interested in seeing the animated subtitles everyone has been talking about, they are on the second disk.

I tried to post a link to the trailer, but it wont let me, not enough posts. You can google night watch trailer to find it though.

Lol Bull becomes a vampire and turns Harry into his underling.....hilarity ensues.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Is this this russian movie that came out like 2 years ago? I heard that it was crap, and that the trailer was baiscally the only part(s) of the movie you would ever want to see. Where did you hear it was good?

Hm, yeah, apart from little nitpickings here and there (which don't necessarily have something to do with the low budget), I found it to be a good thing to spend two hours. But - and I am not questioning your open-mindedness - you may want to rent the movie first before spending 20 bucks on it to see if it's really down your alley. While it certainly borrows bits and pieces from Matrix and Blade aesthetics and plot points, there are some quite odd passages and elements. Personally, I found the different style of narration a bit too cold and distant, and I never really got attached to the fate of the protagonists. Also consider that it ends with a cliffhanger as it is laid out to be the first part of a trilogy like the books...

...and what's that thing about animated subtitles? I'm curious.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Aww you guys are killing my buzz :/ It has like high 50s on rotten tomatoes, which isnt great, but I have liked movies that had a 20% on that site haha. I am willing to spend 15 bux to find out, if it sucks I am out a couple bucks, if not Ill watch it enough to get my money's worth. Hell it has vampires, cant be that bad

Edit:After reading user reviews on this movie, it seems people either love it or hate it.

I just watched it, and it's definitely the weirdest movie I've ever watched. It all sort of comes together in the end though. It's not a bad movie by any means.

It's good, the animated subs were quite cool and not as distracting what i thought they would be, looking forward to daywatch. Didn't know what was going on for some of it but like the above said, it came together at the end. Though the whole bit with the cursed woman was a bit of a pointless bit of story to create tension but meh... still good tho

Animated subtitles? Is that something like they do in anime fansubs or something like that?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I have the 2 disk version of the DVD and I didn't get any friggin' animated subtitles ;_;. Is this just a current special release or have they always had these? Besides, on my DVD and a few other people i've spoken to has, the English subtitles don't even work. I had to watch it with English Impared Hearing subtitles which are annoying as hell if you can actually hear what's going on. I wonder if only supar DVD players can read them or something.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

on my copy it's on disc 2, listed as the "Theatrical Version".
Mine is also in like a metal case that are becoming all the more popular, so maybe they did release a standard edition as well?
the theatrical version has the subs burnt in because of the effects on them wouldn't be processable by the subtitling system of DVDs (i assume)

I saw this in the theatres a few months ago. It was fairly entertaining and worth for fans of sci-fi and/or vampires. Nothing terribly great, but the production values are decent considering it's not a big budget Hollywood film. Oh and the animated subtitles were quite nifty indeed.

I tried to like it...but just couldn't. Perhaps it's the fact that the best parts of the movie were shown in the previews. Production value was good. Story was somewhat interesting but confusing as hell and just left me fusterated until just before the end. Felt like they just didn't know how to tell the story...

I'll watch Daywatch when it comes out but more out of curiousity than entertainment.
