Random freezings...

I've been facing some random freezings on my laptop recently. It has always been a little weird and it froze once in a while since new, but lately it's been doing it a LOT (to the point of being amazed of being able to post here). I'm still not sure, but I believe MSN 7.5 is to blame. I know what to do (and I'm doing it right now, burning all my info on dvds will take a while), but I just wanted to know. Has anyone suffered from these before? And if anyone knows a better way than to just format my drive it'll be greatly appreciatted (I don't have enough dvds here... =S).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Uninstall the program you believe to be problematic and see if that helps? Boot into Safe Mode if you have to to get it done (F8 during startup).

Windows' Event Log might also have some information. You can get to it from Administrative Tools in the Control Panel.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have reinstalled MSN 7.5, but as I'm burning the DVDs I don't want to test it out. I've also looked through Window's Event Log, nothing there (some crashes from Starcraft, which has also freezed my computer, but that's about it).

I've also been suffering from some random shut downs. This laptop has always have that problem, it overheats and it shuts down. I think a fan is dying but I have no money to get it fixed. Perhaps the random shut downs have something to do with the freezings?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Clean the thing, so the heat can escape again.

I blow the fan holes and almost chocked on dust. It was going all good and fine, but it suddenly did it again. As soon as I finish burning the dvds and find my software DVD I'll format this piece of... technology.

Thanks for the help.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Formatting won't help if dust is your problem.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I'm pretty sure it's a software thing. I do have to clean it, though. I need to take it to tech support, it has many small problems (like my left mousepad button getting stuck from time to time or my screen having a weird yellow stain that dissappears and reappears occasionally) that are starting to get pretty annoying.
