I dont even know such game exist. It's just when I was browsing rpgfan to read their review about soundtracks, I clicked the review about FF CC soundtracks. Rpgfan gave a good review for this cd and I eventually interested in it since Kumi Tanioka using a lot of traditional instrument and renaissance style compositions. Don't expect the romantic and dramatic music from uematsu in this soundtrack. Kumi Tanioka proves she's brilliant composer. The 2 cd contain 52 tracks which will bring you to the atmosphere of perfect mediaval fantasy. Tanioka used a lot of flute and string instrument in this cd. I couldnt tell whether they are synthesizer or not. They sound so real, so they must be a real performance. The problem in this cd is might be the using of traditional too much which might tires your ear. The 2nd cd also have too much ambient tracks which mostly less enjoyable compared to the cd 1. My favorite track in this soundtrack is "Annual Festival". A perfect music which describes the atmosphere of people celebrate festival and having some kind of folk dance party. All I could say, the music is almost perfect, I only wish the 2nd cd is more musical instead of giving ambient atmosphere. 4/5 Jam it back in, in the dark.

While many people have negative things to say about this soundtrack, I love it. I really enjoy the traditional feel that this album presents. The opening vocal by Yae, "Kazenone"/"Sound of the Wind" is very beautiful and peaceful. Her voice is simply intoxicating. My favorite tracks include "Echoes at the Mountain Peak", "Departure", "Annual Festival" and "Monster's Dance ~Rondo~" (a perfect battle theme for this type of setting). I also got a chance to play the game, and because of that, I was able to enjoy the music that much more. Even though Tanioka took a step back for me with the Code Age Commanders OST, I really hope she returns to do the next entry in the Crystal Chronicles saga.
4/5 as well. There's nowhere I can't reach.

yeah....one of my favorites, the traditional instruments give a special feeling to the game...can you listen the english version's of the two vocal songs?...the opening and ending theme's....are very beauty.
my favorites tracks of the all ost?.. they are: 07 Departure 4:15 15 Oath in the Eternity 3:02 20 A Gentle Wind Blows 2:10 06 Entrusting your Body to "Freedom" 1:53 22 Starry Night 4:24 23 Orgel of Water 1:14 and some others This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I forgot to mention, 125 Water of Life also one of my favorite. The beautifulness of the song really matches with the title. It's really relaxing and peaceful song, as it's associated with the element of water.

"Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles" is unique because of the instrumentation it uses; if I remember correctly, the score is performed by instruments appropriate to the time period and level of development in the game (i.e. medieval).
Kumi Tanioka is something of a VGM cipher; while she's been involved in some very high profile projects, like this and Final Fantasy Online, she doesn't have a readily identifiable style and seems to have few fans. While her work on the MMORPG is uniformly bland, Crystal Chronicles does offer a much more mature and melodic sound. This is typified by "Endless Sky," which served as the game's trailer music. The period instruments are mixed together to form a warm melody that grows more powerful and heartfelt as the track progresses. Many of the other highlights are in the same mold; the liting and sad "Departure" and the melodic "Moving Clouds on the River's Surface." The silliness which was present in many of Tanioka's FF Online tracks is present as well, notably in "Goblin Lair" which (like many tracks) uses a kazoo-like sound in a creative and bouncy way. The album has its share of darker tracks, though these tend toward the ambient (with "Light and Shadow" being one of the most effective). There are also songs like "When the Northern Sky Is Clear," though, which combine the lighter instruments with a choir to form a darker tune. Unfortunately, the battle themes, such as they are, are completely limp. "Limp" unfortunately describes many of the tracks, especially on Disc 2. For every highlight track that is filled with creativity and melody, there are two more that muddle around in ambiance, doing nothing. The fact that these tend to be darker tracks as well speaks to Tanioka being at her best when composing bouncier tunes. The less said about the abysmal J-Pop that marrs the album, the better--when will the Squeenix brass stop trying to ram inappropriate pop garbage into their games? Unlike several other composers that have written in the Final Fantasy mileu, though, Tamioka does reference Nobuo Uematsu's iconic work on the series. This is most obvious in "I'm a Moogle" which rearranges the classic Uematsu song for Crystal Chronicles' instrument set, but the classic "Prelude" in in evidence as well, integrated into many of the songs in a very subtle and appropriate way. "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles" is ultimately a mixed bag. There is some truly beautiful orchestral material on the double album, but plenty of misfires as well. One would hope that Tanioka will be given the oppurtunity to capitalize on her stylistic and compositional strengths in the future, since it's clear that with a little more effort, she could produce a stunning home run. 3/5 I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
The only thing gives me curiousity is whether the recording of this soundtrack done by sequencing or streaming. Does anyone know some information in the making of this soundtrack?
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Sad Monster, Unite,Decent, and Thoroughly Blue are my favorites on the soundtrack. Kumi Tanioka is to Crystal Chronicles as Nobou Uematsu is to the numbered series in the past. I HIGHLY doubt they will find someone else for the next installment.
