Ikaruga?

I am tempted to buy Ikaruga for my GCN off of ebay I just wanted to ask what you all think about it first. Is it deserving of it's 8.8 rating on gamespot? Also does anyone know why it's no longer in print? This looks like an awsome game but I've been fooled before

It's awesome. I have recently purchased it of eBay, and it's on its way, but I have a friend who already has it. It is awesome, but also fairly hard until you get the hangs of things and start to recongnize the patterns.

I would suggest it, whole-heartedly.

Yeah, the game is awesome, but is a pretty hard game.

It kicks my ass every time. I swear, you need to be a god or something for it to work.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's great, hard old school fun. Worth every penny. You probably won't beat it until you unlock unlimited continues, which takes a while. Regardless, it's fun every time.

Ikaruga's probably one of the best shmups you could ever pay money for. With that in mind, how much are you paying for it?

A friend and I found it used for 30$ yesterday and he snatched it up. Amazingly fun, and worth every penny.

well the bid i'm watching is at $1 right now, but I will be willing to pay up to $40 Canadian but the game is being sold near by so shipping shouldn't be too much (I just hope I don't get too much competition) *STAY AWAY ALL OF YOU IT'S MINE!* lol

Well I was playing Ikaruga on DC and have to say that after 2 hours of playing I just made a fan site about it =D and I don't do this for all games just for those that are special to me =) Hope you enjoy playing it alone and with friend just as I did.

Ikaruga is awesome. You can play for survival, chaining or just messing around.

I have a sealed Dreamcast Ikaruga. I've been meaning to buy the Gamecube version but according to the folks at ikaruga.co.uk, the PAL Gamecube version has bugs which affect your score with the first boss. So I've been waiting to see an american one pop up somewhere, but no such luck.

Ikaruga is definitely one of the best shooting games I've ever played. It sits by my favorites, Raiden DX, Mushihimesama and ESP Galuda. I highly recommend it, but don't expect to complete it without credit feeding. The goal of Ikaruga is to complete it without losing a single credit, arcade style.

I also recommend Shikigami no Shiro II, if you're looking for an alternative shooter for the Gamecube. It's a combination of CAVE and touhou shooters all mixed together.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah it was DAMN hard for the first time. After a while you can get to perfection. Each time you finish the game it's a little different next time that makes it even harder to remember all the things that will be on your way. I just love fight with one of the last boss in it when you have to absorb his power and use it by power shot. That was some of a challenge =)

I got it to on DC. Dreamcast was one of the best consoles for games of that type. I miss my DC =(

If you like old-school shooters like Gradius, you'll love Ikaruga to death. If you aren't one of those guys though, you won't like it very much.

I managed to pick it up for $50 pre-owned (like new) for GC, but considering how difficult it is becoming to find, I don't mind having paid that much. It's definitely a good shmup, but I don't see myself ever playing it enough to the point that I'd ever be as good as..say..this guy. That's just ridiculous.
