Fermented grapes? Why, yes!

This thread's a bit of an experiment, I have no idea how it'll turn out.

So, know any good wines? If so, then here's your chance of sharing your favorites with the world, because that's what this thread is all about. All you have to do is post the name of the wine, along with other information you think might actually be useful, such as whether it's a red or white wine, the approximate price per bottle (I know this varies quite a bit according to location, but it gives a rough idea) and the vintage, then write a small description of the wine. There's no need to be oenologist here, it's usually possible to give at least a rough idea of what the wine might taste like without using all those fancy terms. If you can't describe it, then at least tell us what food you ate along with the wine, and perhaps other foods you think might be good with it. Add whatever else you think is useful.

Anyone wants to start? I ordinarily would, but I haven't had any good wines recently, which is part of the reason why I've decided to create this thread in the first place.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm not much of a wine buff. I won't drink shit though.

Our pub sells a very drinkable Ernst & Julio Gallo Sauvignon Blanc, 2004 I think. For a house wine it's pretty good.

Basically with wine you get what you pay for. Don't believe that French wine is the be all and end all and never, NEVER buy wine in a box. If it doesn't come in a glass bottle, don't even think about it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I rarely drink wine, and in fact, I think the last time I had it was a wedding two years ago. I can't pull off that whole classy drinker thing, and wine's fine but it never seems to serve the purpose of a drink. It's not as refreshing as a cold beer and doesn't get you smashed as fast as whiskey.

However, my friend makes his own whites and it's actually pretty damn good. He learned from someone we mutually went to school with and he makes bottles for people for gifts and such. It actually turns out quite good.

I only like ice wine or other dessert wines. Reds are too strong and taste too much like wood. White wines are too tart sometimes...

I'm not a huge wine drinker, considering I get drunk off 3 sips. Wine tasting is fun, but I'm usually in it for the food.

2 buck chuck is a decent wine for the price

I'm still waiting for the jokers to come out of the woodwork and say "Boons Farm" or "Mad Dog 20/20". I used to drink both when I was a beginner drunk, but now with a more refined taste, I know I just can't afford a good spirit.

Their are two rules I live by when eating out and having a bottle of wine. It can't be house wine, because it usually comes out of a box, and expect to pay at least $50 for a half way decent bottle. I hate paying $50 for a good bottle of wine, but when on a date, sometimes it happens.

As long as we are on the wine subject, I remember watching a documentary on the Whales of Las Vegas (aka the biggest of the high rollers). One gentleman ordered a large salad with a bottle of expensive wine ($600 bottle to be exact). He then proceeded to pour the wine on his salad like dressing. The server almost fainted right then and there. I would have too if I saw that.
