Data recovery. Tips?
I need to recover a file from either a floppy disk or a hard drive. The hard drive had Win98 on it with FAT32 and then just re-installed with XP. I tried using Active@ Undelete but it seems like it didn't even detect the old FAT32 partition. I wasn't able to find the single file I needed.
Although, before XP was installed, backup of the needed files was done on a floppy. It was apparently the only media around that would work. The disk tested fine before the install but then wouldn't even bother to read once XP was installed. Active@ found some files, but not all of them. I don't even know why this is. I'm about to try SpinRite and Stellar Phoenix(on VG's recommendation) and I hope that it will do the trick. Does anyone have any ideas or tips? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
