Homeworld
I'm starting this thread in sort of praise of the awesome soundtrack that Relic/Sierra had put together for this game.
Yeah, the game's a bit old now, but was innovative when it was released. Paul Ruskay and YES did the original music for this game. It was a reference I think to YES' The Ladder album, with the long progressive track "Homeworld." I was wondering if anyone else out there enjoyed the soundtrack as much as I did? Definitely a win for fans of Ambient Electronica. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() Posting without content since 2002. |
I liked it overall, but my most favorite piece is Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" (which I'm finding out is actually called Agnus Dei, which is a choral version of Adagio). Holy cow does that piece of music fit the 3rd stage of the game perfectly.
Spoiler:
On a sort of related note (sorry for the slight hijacking duo), does anyone who's heard Adagio for Strings (or esp. the choral version) know of any similiar music with a sad theme to it? Although I really love this piece, I want to find other pieces (preferably from a game, but it doesn't have to be if it's good) to listen to because I need some sad music for a scene I'm writing in my story (I like Barber's Agnus Dei because it has a "religious" feel to it, as does my story). There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Yeah, i loved the soundtrack. It was very subtle and fit the ambiance of what we perceive to be space.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I haven't heard this. You'll have to let me get a listen to it when I come to the next meet.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~bryhni/vak/m...art98_mp3.html But ya, I have to agree with you on Adagio for Strings. I need to get the vocal version. But I must say, the string version is awesome. The piece just builds up for minutes, and it finally hits the climax, and then it resolves back to its sad, mellow beginning. Though it's long, I still like the string version better. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Dance party!
