Songs you love to loop

I've been looping songs over and over for hours recently while studying until the wee hours of the morning. I wouldn't be able to do this with just any kind of song, it has to be something that I can hum to, that sounds somewhat trance-inducing or ambient, so that I can easily push it to the back of my mind and concentrate on the notes. However, the music helps me study and it's always there for a listen when I feel like taken a momentary break.

Last night the song I used for this was Mad World by Gary Jules. Tonight it's Frozen by Madonna.

So, am I the only one that likes to loop songs for hours? Does looping drive you crazy, so much so that you MUST have a mix going, or at least, an album (from a single artist)? What tracks do you love to loop?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I tend to loop albums if i loop anything. Otherwise i'm just known for playing a song something like 3 times in a day.

The song i can never get sick of is "A Change of Seasons" by Dream Theater. It has an effect on me when "Another World" starts, almost no other song can come close to.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'll loop a song if I want to sustain a particular mood. If I have a lot of work to do i'll listen to some bracing military music to keep me going. If I want to relax i'll listen to something slow with nice female vocals. There are so many to choose from though it'd be hard to list them all.

At the moment i'm looping tracks by Bjork. Oh, and Eric Satie's Gymnopedie, which is just amazing.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Usually, if I loop anything, it's:

Orbital - Halcyon + on + on
Aoineko - Natural Augmentation Theory
Aphex Twin - Matchsticks
Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsam

Or if I'm into one particular song at the moment, I might loop it for a few plays, but those tracks (and probably a few others I have forgotten) I can loop for hours.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I don't generally listen to tracks on their own. I tend to listen to whole albums, really, and I usually don't listen to an album twice in a row. I'm a firm believer in songs that need to be hard in context.

I loop short songs like Hora De Verdad and pretty much everything from a popnmusic/guitarfreaks/drummania/etc. ost over and over again because they're short, catchy, and not so repetitive.

As well, I loop my most favourite JRock songs over and over again, at least 10 times per sitting such as Hanamuke (Chirinuruwowaka) and Kinkyori Ren'ai (Go! Go! 7188), all the while accumulating play count.

Youtube music videos also substitute for songs when I don't have the actual track on hand.

Generally, I don't like looping songs, but if I really, really like a song (as in, I like it so much that I actually memorize the song and start singing it in my head when I'm not listening to it), I can stand listening to it multiple times in a row.

The only songs that I've done this with lately is "How To Save A Life" by The Fray and "When You Were Young" by The Killers.

My god... I have so many songs that I just LOVE to put on a loop and just zone out to. A whole lot of them are techno / electronica songs, but every once in a while different genres sneak in there. I'll just list a few of my "Most Played" iPod tracks.

Quote:
1. Birdy Nam Nam - Migration [Birdy Nam Nam] (182 plays)
2. Miles - Good Vibrations [The Funky Precedent] (143 plays)
3. Nujabes, Fat Jon - The Space Between Two Worlds [Samurai Champloo Music Departure] (122 plays)
4. Yann Tiersen - La Valse D'Amelie (Piano) [Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain] (122 plays)
5. Kahimi Karie - Blue Orb [Minna Daisuki Katamary Damacy] (93 plays)
6. Télépopmusik - Breathe [Genetic World] (87 plays).
7. Nobuo Uematsu - Wandering Flame [Final Fantasy X Original Soundtrack] (79 plays)
8. Namco Sound Team - Liquid Soul [R: Racing Evolution] (58 plays)
9. Hideki Naganuma - Humming The Bassline [Jet Set Radio] (54 plays)
10. Cliff Martinez - First Sleep [Solaris Original Soundtrack] (51 plays)
It should be noted that a lot of these get so much play because I usually leave my headphones on looping a lot of these songs when I go to sleep. Still, I don't know how I never get tired of these songs. I mean, there's a whole playlist of songs in my library that have at least 25 plays and right now it's up to 57 songs.

Also lol Miles makes music.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Songs I've done this with, according to iTunes:

1. Pain - "Bye/Die" (21 plays)
2. All That Remains - "This Calling" (17 plays)
3. Cemetary - "Coma Burn" (16 plays)
4. Cult of Luna - "Marching to the Heartbeats" (16 plays)
5. OSI - "Go" (15 plays)
6. Coldseed - "Democracy Lesson" (14 plays)
7. Cult of Luna - "Finland" (14 plays)
7. Katatonia - "Evidence" (14 plays)
8. Blind Guardian - "Fly" (13 plays)
9. In Flames - "World of Promises" (12 plays)
10. In Flames - "My Sweet Shadow [Industrial]" (12 plays)

I've not been using iTunes for too long, and according to Winamp my top tracks are "Bulletblues" by Mercenary (114 plays) and "Go" by OSI (103 plays).

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, recently I have looped the old school hip hop track ''93 till infinity'' by ''Souls of Mischief''. I really like this song at the moment.

I have also looped some video game music that I really like - specifically the mega man 2 tracks, however I only have them in midi format.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I listen to my ambient Thunderstorm sounds all night. I don't know if that counts. When I study, I listen to Sunday Drive on repeat. Its an older non lyrical music. Came out around 1997. Very nice to listen to.

Alberto Balsalm by Aphex Twin. Its great to listen to while working on the computer. Very peaceful in an Aphex Twin sort of way.

I just throw it on winamp and let it play until I start to become aware of the fact that its repeating.

No, you're not because I can loop a single song for hours and hours. I think the longest I've ever gone was about eight hours on one song. Right now, I'm currently looping (and have been since about three hours ago):

Gagle - RODDY を DRIVE!

well today I just discovered "Heavenly Star" a song created by the creator of Lumines and was made especially for Lumines 2.

I'm looping this song for hour now and will probably last all week till I either find something else or return to the "Emilie Simon - Vegetal" album that I was looping for the past 2-3 week XD

I'm not so much into looping music, except I listened to "Step Up Ghetto Blaster" by Mindless Self Indulgence 47 times in a row once, xD. My friend always had "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell playing non-stop on his computer for hours at a time, we checked the playcount on iTunes recently and it was over 500, lol...

Lately it's been "The Tin Roof" by the Minutemen. I've listened to this brief masterpiece 40 odd times in the day or so since I downloaded it. What's so great about looping this, too, is that the end seems to fade perfectly into the beginning. Good stuff.

I looped "Consequence" from Ace Combat 5, "Mysterious Door" from Growlanser IV and "Wings of Despair" from Soul Calibur III in Sound Forge since I listen to them so often. I hate having to go through a fade-out ever couple minutes when I often listen to those songs for even hours straight.

I rarely, if ever, loop tracks. I don't even loop albums all that much. I do listen to some tracks repeatedly over the course of a day, but I rarely repeat tracks.

The only track I can recall repeating a lot is Weezer's "Perfect Situation" when I was hanging out with a friend. We repeated that song about... 5 times? Not much, really. I love that song.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
