plug and play problem
ok, so I have a prostar notebook with a toshiba cd/dvdw sdr6572m, sometimes when I'm in the middle of a game or listening to music, everything starts to chug, sound and mouse movement pauses. If I go to Device Manager and have it scan for hw changes, it seems to fix it. I've looked in the windows Event Viewer and whenever this happens, windows has a system error event saying "the toshiba unexpectantly disappered without first being prepared for removal"
it's driving me crazy, I've tried reinstalling windows and no effect. any suggestions? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Are you sure it's fitting in correctly? It all points to a hardware problem. If the CD/DVDW doesn't fit tightly there's the chance that it will disconnect some times. That or it's failing.

I'm pretty sure it's fitting correctly, I've slide it out completely and then back in making sure it snaps in.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
This used to happen with the Compaq laptops all the time. Fortunately it was usually (not *always*) the drive that was having issues, instead of the port on the laptop. I'd RMA it.
