Chrono Cross Arranged album?

I remember hearing about this possibly being released sometime early last year. Did this project ever come to fruition, is it still being worked on, was it canned, or was it all just a big fatty lie?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Just an update on this for fellow CC fans - Mitsuda recently confirmed that this will be out by the end of this year. He also said that he's going for a very acoustic feel.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Oh my bad, Drakken, I didn't notice it. Thanks for pointing it out, seanne. I'll be anticipating this album upon it's release.

Is the link down or something? Can someone give a synopsis or is it basically just a "hay this disc is coming out by December" sort of thing?

It's a pretty interesting interview actually.

here it is:
N-Sider: Alright, first... thanks very much for coming out today. It really means a lot to our site and we appreciate it.

Yasunori Mitsuda: Of course.

N-Sider: First of all, with the Play concert tonight, we know that there's going to be an arrangement of some of your works. What kinds of things can we expect to see this evening?

Mitsuda: Today I'll be presenting a medley of four songs from Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

N-Sider: Speaking of Chrono, if Square were to approach you to compose a new Chrono game, would you do it now even though you're an independent composer?

Mitsuda: (laughs) Of course, i'm willing to!

N-Sider: I heard that you have a remix of Chrono Cross music on the way... do you have something similar to The Brink of Time (Chrono Trigger remix album)? Do you know when it is going to be released?

Mitsuda: The CD?

N-Sider: Yeah.

Mitsuda: It'll be out within the year, and I'm doing a very acoustic sound for it.

N-Sider: Your work on Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross is kind of jazzy... what inspired you to do these soundtracks in this style musically while considering the settings of the games?

Mitsuda: Hmm... I'm not really targetting the jazz that specifically. A lot of times what I like to do is really like to focus on world music, different world styles, and I think that comes through in the Chrono games a lot.

N-Sider: Your work on Xenogears has a very interesting musical style, really a lot different than any video game soundtrack that had come before it. What were some of the major influences in composing Xenogears?

Mitsuda: With Xenogears, I wanted to bring in some aspect of music that no composers had really dealt with before. I'm a really big fan of the singer Joanne Hogg from the band called Iona, from Ireland, and I really tried to bring a lot of Ireland into the Xenogears setting so... it would sound very... interesting to those kinds of listeners, who enjoy different sorts of music and the Irish sound.

N-Sider: In regards to new projects, what kinds of things are you most excited to do these days?

Mitsuda: The most exciting recently would be composing the arrangements of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross for the Play concert. I did that back in Japan around March. They're a little different from the game album, but that's the most exciting work I've done recently.

N-Sider: Any new games in the works?

Mitsuda: I'm working on a music album for a big game company (makes "big" gesture with arms) on a game. (laughs) I cannot say yet. I'll announce the completion of it soon.

N-Sider: Of all the things you've done, what are you the most proud of?

Mitsuda: (long pause) Uh........ (laughs) Hmm......... (laughs) I really like all the work that I did! Everything has some memory with it that I enjoy. Every work is the "best one!" One thing, I'm really very proud and honored to arrange my music to be presented to an American audience. If I were to think about a video game concert, it seems mostly like a Japanese thing, like with animation or games, so it's really a great opportunity to present our culture, game music. I'm really honored for the opportunity and I hope it can be presented again in the future.

N-Sider: Any works or games from other composers you're excited to see soon?

Mitsuda: (laughs) There's a lot of great composers that I'm really excited to listen to, Kondo, Koshiro, (gestures towards Uematsu) and of course Uematsu-san.

N-Sider: We're really looking forward to the concert tonight.

Mitsuda: Yes! I'm very excited to bring in the kind of game music that many people in America are wanting to hear, so keep listening and you will hear from me!

Did I miss this album, was it released? Other than the Play! arrangement, I haven't heard of any new arranged Chrono Cross pieces. My copies of CT: Brink of Time and Time and Space are becoming a bit overplayed so it would be nice to have some new acoustic arrangements

As far as I know, nothing has been announced, though there were a few arrangements on Eminence's Passion CD by Mitsuda. Having trouble finding a copy of that CD and all

Passion - Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

Uploaded by ashmountain.

Tracks from Chrono Cross are Time's Scar, Radical Dreamers and Dream of the Shore.

I personally own the CD as well, got it from the last Night in Fantasia concert.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well its been about a year since my last bump, any word on this compilation? Drammatica, Passion, and new OneUps album has gotten me excited about hearing Mitsuda arrangements again!

No full album, but we just posted about two arrangements that will be featured on the "Chrono Trigger Orchestra Extra Soundtracks," which is a Japanese pre-order bonus for the game:

Original Sound Version » Blog Archive » Something Extra For Japan: Chrono Trigger Orchestra Extra Soundtracks

No word as to whether they're new or old arrangements, and no word as to whether they'll come to the US.

Well it has been a year since my last bump (completely coincidental, something about the end of August draws me back to GFF I guess), any update to this CD release?

We've had Video Games Live, Play! Symphony, Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections, and OneUps released since the last post. This is likely the last album I've been waiting for over the past few years. Hurry up and release!

No album announcement yet, however, Mitsuda did have "A Narrow Space Between Dimensions" from Chrono Cross Arrange Album (it stated the album's name on the page) streaming on his website for 3 days before Christmas last year, so it means that it is, indeed being worked on. I'm sure someone has a rip of it, but if not, I can provide one when I get home today.

I think I reverse engineered the player code back then:

The link to the mp3 file should still work.

Well it has been a year since my last bump, any update to this CD release?

We've had Retro Remix Revue, OneUps, Final Fantasy XIII and Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections albums released since the last post. This is likely the last album I've been waiting for over the past few years (approaching 5 years since this thread began). Hurry up and release!
