It was really easy to think what to vote this week, as some tracks are well known, and Halo and FFXI were clearly the best for me.

3 points ~ Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia Original Soundtrack - Gustaberg (Bonus Track)
2 points ~ Halo 3 - ODST (Game Rip) - Something Like Sorrow
1 point ~ Super Castlevania IV (Game Rip) - Secret Room (Bonus BGM)

Next nomination:

Album: Outrun (genesis gamerip)
Track: Step on beat
Composer: T's music

Link: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

I made the mp3 from the vgz, but there is a version from the Outrun OST collection (lots of CDs) that is probably a little better.

It's funny, even with some bigger games in play this wasn't the most standout week. That's a testament I feel to the quality stuff that you guys unearth week to week.

(2 points) Grandia II ~Deus~ - Dangerous Zone: Obviously it get a little heavy on the wailing, but I love the energy of this piece. And like I stated, it features a great second track that for some reason the soundtrack creators decided to just throw on to the end of the first one.

(2 points) Super Castlevania IV (Game Rip) - Secret Room (Bonus BGM): I like that it's not overly gothic per some Castlevania noms. It actually has a really unique flair for a Castlevania game.

(1 point) Genso Suikoden Original Game Soundtrack - Theme of the Advancing Army (War BGM3): Definitely has the "Advancing" motif down pat. The track could stand just a tad bit more urgency.

(1 point) Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia Original Soundtrack - Gustaberg (Bonus Track): Is this actually live? Anyway, nice relaxing vibe with some "exploration theme" feel thrown in.

(Early vote so I can BSC it up)

3 points: Koopa Junior BGM
2 points: Secret Room (Bonus BGM)
1 point: Something Like Sorrow
Just Missed: Dangerous Zone, Djose Temple, Theme of the Advancing Army

lol, love how short this week ended up, no tracks over 4 minutes long.

SECRET ROOOOOOOOOOOOM <333333, too bad I can't give it 3 points, I love Koopa Junior too much (also Koopa Junior is 12-bar blues WTFFF I just noticed that today, oh Kondo you sly dog)

Best part of this week is the very last second of Dangerous Zone.

A question to the nominator of the ODST track: was Something Like Sorrow clipped from the soundtrack itself (a part of the Bits and Pieces Suite), or was it actually ripped from the game?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It was clipped from the suite. ODST has some incredible film noir music unfortunately buried in 7-10 minute suites.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

FINAL FANTASY and FINAL FANTASY II Original Soundtrack - Boss Battle A The arrangements by Tsuyoshi Sekito in this album are generally pretty good, though a few leave something to be desired. In this case, a semi-limp arrangement and a not-particularly-great original combine in a decent but meh track.

Final Fantasy X Original Soundtrack - Djose Temple It doesn't particularly fit the scene, but on its own this kooky tune has always been one of the better tracks from the wildly inconsistent FFX.

Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia Original Soundtrack - Gustaberg (Bonus Track) While Naoshi Mizuta produced a few good tracks during his tenure as FFXI composer, the ratio of good to bland is depressingly low. Kumi Tamioka fared much better despite her limited participation, with this arrangement standing as decent.

Genso Suikoden Original Game Soundtrack - Theme of the Advancing Army (War BGM3) Parts of the original Suikoden are sheer brilliance; sadly, this isn't one of them. As "big urgent war" songs go, it's not without its merits.

Grandia II ~Deus~ - Dangerous Zone Never been a big Grandia or Iwadare fan, with this dull bit of rock doing little to change that.

Halo 3 - ODST (Game Rip) - Something Like Sorrow ODST has some memorable musical moments, mostly dark neo-noir with a prominent role for the saxophone. It's the perfect antidote to the high-testosterone music that's become associated with the franchise.

Super Castlevania IV (Game Rip) - Secret Room (Bonus BGM) Rather quirkier than I was expecting, but still kind of slight.

Super Mario World (Game Rip) - Koopa Junior BGM Wait, was Koopa Junior even in SMW? I thought it was all about the Koopalings still, before they were unceremoniously jettisoned in favor of the bland Junior. That oddity aside, there's not a whole lot to latch onto here.

An interesting mix, that's for sure.

The Point Spread
Something Like Sorrow - 3 pts.
Djose Temple - 2 pts.
Gustaberg - 1 pt.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yeah, I love ODST's soundtrack, not so much the way it was formatted. The booklet gives a full list of all the cues including time lengths, which makes it much easier to navigate than Halo 3's soundtrack, there's that. I was hoping that there was a rip made that would seperate all the tracks, though I don't think it's possible to do so directly from the soundtrack, the way some cues blend into others.

3 Pts.} Super Castlevania IV (Game Rip) - Secret Room (Bonus BGM)

2 Pts.} Super Mario World (Game Rip) - Koopa Junior BGM

1 Pt.} Halo 3 - ODST (Game Rip) - Something Like Sorrow

I don't have much to say about these this time, so I guess to avoid a complete imbalance I won't say anything.
