Heh.

Heh <~~ the stupidest form of laugh there could ever be. Seriously why do so many internet forum nerds and bloggers feel the need to use this? I guess its supposed to be some kind of cool laid back laugh or not even a laugh but a chuckle. To me though its just really annoying because if you say the word outloud it just sounds stupid and annoying.

I like how the internet lingo is just as trendy as anything else out there nowadays. Its like one person starts doing something..others pick up on it and decide "oh well I want to look like an asshole too so ill 'heh' at everything to make myself look cool!". For this one you cannot even blame a tv show or anything else. Forums and Blogs are full of them, if you read a blog or journal you will see something like this: "I was watching my favorite anime, and the weird anime girl with blue hair had nice breasts...heh".

Like I said earlier, the internet is full of people who pick up on what others do and keep it going. The whole leet or whatever the hell it is called is just as bad. There are people out there who actually speak leet because they are so beyond having a social life..its really all they have. You also have those who mock it by talking with "zomg, Pr0n, Haxxorz" or other various forms of it. They mock it by using it but really only to get a laugh out of people because they fail to do it any other way. Don't even get me started on the whole "lawlz" thing because if I honestly knew anyone in person that typed with "lawlz" ..I swear to god I would punch them in the crotch a dozen times.

Am I the only one annoyed by this? Its not...so much the actual use of the words...its just how many zombies there are out there that have to pick up on trends that others use because they lack the creativity to have their own personality. I mean come on, it just sounds ridiculous. Heh? Good god.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't like it either, only because when someone says "heh" to me it's kind of an insulting response. If I type something funny, and get a "heh" in return, to me it's kinda like "yeah, OK, whatever, go die in a fire idiot."

...well not that extreme, but you know what I mean.

"Heh" is an acknowledgement of slight humor. It is for something that is not worthy of "haha" or "lol," but it still makes you chuckle a little bit.
Perhaps you are saying "heh" wrong too. When I do it, it is very natural. Just a little half laugh.

So long as it's not a repeated term in a conversation like "lol" or "hah" or something, I am cool with it.

In fact, I do it sometimes. Sometimes. It's not something I would consider a bad habit of mine, but I admit that sometimes, its a guilty little chuckle.

There are other far worse things on the internet that get on my nerves. But really, when one term is used too much, it annoys me.

"Heh" sounds way cooler than "lol" does. As means of expressing humor on the internet, I'd go for heh over lol. lol sounds very childish IMO.

To hell with that, I'm a REAL man, and as such, when I laugh, it is a mighty HA HA that echoes throughout time >=0

(A few of my friends say "heh", usually when they're showing dissaproval or half-hearted amusement. It is usually a bad sign when they say it, as it usually means they're angry.)

See, my exact problem about 4 years ago. It's just somewhat of uninterested response or a mock. Either those two.

That's pretty much how I feel about 'heh' as well. I use it often only because I think everything is moderately funny. However, it has replaced my usage of 'lol' since I used to OVERUSE that saying many years ago. I remember my first years online were filled with "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL"s.

Looking back at that now makes me sick to my stomach and 'heh' doesn't seem so bad by comparison.

I only use it to show that I found something slightly amusing. "Haha" or "Hehe" tend to be used if I really mean "LoL." I don't often use the latter though.

Heh. I think of it as a sarcastic rude laugh.

That is if I want to be sarcastic and rude at the same time, I would use "Heh."

Since when is 'heh' a trend? It's a very neutral way of expressing amusement, and has been around longer than you have been alive. And, man, first you say that 'heh'' doesn't allow people to express their own personality well enough, then you shit on people who have different ways of laughing online. Logic is packing its bags in a hurry.

And what's that about saying it out loud? You're not supposed to literally pronounce any onomatopoeia syllable by syllable; of course it's gonna sound fucking stupid.

When someone fails to get a laugh from me (and I care about that persons feelings) I'll courtsey them with a 'Hehe' which is a lot warmer than 'heh' but still seems to encourage aiming for loftier humour targets; like: 'not quite a "haha" but I'm acknowledging what you're at least trying to do'.

As for internet trends, what's worrying is that when basic AI's, who mimic intelligence by recycling the most used and widespread memes and e-phrases, begin to filter into the internet as part of some dastardly plan masterminded by The Machines - we won't be able to point them out. It might be already happening. Do we have composite trend AI's at Gamingforce even now?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I say "heh" a lot online, and it's usually when I'm too tired or busy or angry (ect) to find something funny, but would feel bad for not showing appreciation of a joke. It doesn't annoy me, neither does any of the other internet lingo, but I try and avoid using it all the time when I'm online.

I guess I have a tendency to mirror the chatting style of whomever I'm talking to. So if he goes "heh" a lot, so do I, and if he uses capitals and proper punctuation, I might too. I don't normally punctuate my chat conversations, as I don't consider chat to be a true written medium (to me it is essentially a form of speech). This is how I came to terms with things such as "lol" and smileys. Forum posts are a different matter to me, although I do use smileys, since they have become so integrated into our digital communicative culture that not using them is a statement in itself.

Uhm. So yeah, "heh" doesn't really bother me. One of my best friends uses it constantly. I've only seen him use "haha" once in the 5 years I've talked to him online. And he's still a friend (and he just bought a banjo, I mean how freakin' cool is that).

Clearly you live in some virtual hole on the internet if you don't realize it along with other forms of expression laughter are trendy. Heres what I mean: Even here on gamingforce there are people who use "Heh" and they may mean it as a sarcastic laugh (which I find funny that they do) but even so...eventually some others are going to pick up on it and do it. Trust me, they do. Some jackass might of never heard of "heh" before and if they see someone suddenly do it...they will start doing it as well. Perhaps I am just annoyed by things catching on so easily on the internet.

I didn't crap on people who laugh certain ways. Heh is not a laugh, Haha is a laugh, LOL is a laugh , hehehe is a laugh, as much as it pains me to say it...bwahahaha is also a laugh. Ive used Haha, and LOL alot on here so id by a hypocrit if I said something about those, however I stand by what I said. Heh is stupid, was the first time I heard...and it will be until the last time I hear it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
