Laptop Recommendations

Hey guys, my girlfriend is looking for a laptop and I'm not really sure where the best places to look for one is, or what the current top brands are.

She plans on using it mostly for school/work. She doesn't play any games, though she does like streaming video from stuff like youtube and hulu. It might also need to occasionally be hooked up to a TV/projector, so some form of video out would be a plus (VGA, DVI, or HDMI are all fine).

She doesn't want a netbook and would prefer a larger screen ( > 15in). However, she's fairly petite, so one which isn't too heavy would definitely be a plus. The laptop is going to be a replacement for her desktop.

Oh, and she just told me "No Macs."

She's looking to spend around $800-$1000. Also, a decent warranty would be nice since she'll be carrying it to/from work/school a lot.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Not gonna be easy to get a 15+" desktop replacement and still have it light.

Although I ultimately rejected this model, perhaps your girlfriend might like the specifications:

VAIO NW Series PC | Sony | SonyStyle USA

The price should be well within her budget.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

14.1 would be more practical, but if what you listed are her only concerns... have a look at the asus notebooks on newegg.com

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
