How to configure a G5/G7 to plain vanilla 1200dpi

Hi, I just bought this great mouse, the G7, wow that thing is a very, very precise mouse; this is great improvement, even coming from an MX500, they did an awesome job…

The thing is the software side is a little confusing now… with the MX500, I used to select No Acceleration and put the Cursor Speed to MAX, which set the MX500 to its max resolution, 800dpi.

Now with SetPoint, they are 3 settings:
- The pointer speed
- The mouse resolution
- The pointer acceleration

So I’m asking to you G7 (or G5) owners, how one can set the mouse to plain vanilla 1200 dpi, i.e. with NO software acceleration.

Here is what I’ve figured out so far:

First, I set the hardware mouse resolution to 1200dpi, simple.

Second, I set the pointer acceleration to None.

Third, I’m confuse about how to set the pointer acceleration, since when I try it at MAX with hardware resolution of 800 dpi, the G7 pointer is moving faster than the MX500, which means that there is some software acceleration applied with the G7. So which spot guaranty no software acceleration?

To put it in simply, how can I turn off all software acceleration?

Thanks in advance!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I just bought the G5 a few weeks ago and love it. Very precise. I chose the corded version over the wireless because the 10 hour battery life didn't appeal to me.

To control the DPI on my mouse, I use the buttons on my mouse and I set the speed within Windows. The Logitech software is shitty, bloated and unstable, and I didn't install it. The mouse works just the same without the software as it does with it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hmm, that's a good idea, except that you can't configure the buttons as you like, hehe.

And you are right, the battery doesn't have much time before it runs out, at least there two of them with the mouse...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I just got the G7 a couple of days ago too along with the Xtrac Pads Hybrid pad. It is one of the greatest feelings in the world. The battery concept for the G7 is brilliant. Other cordless mice, you'd put in on a base charger so you can't use the mouse. Here, you swap the batteries, so when it runs out you can pop in the freshly charged on. It's nice.

As for the resolution issue, I'm not sure as I don't see it in SetPoint. There's a newer SetPoint available on Logitech's web site than the one that was bundled with the mouse. I'll update at some point, but maybe there's something there.

Hehe, yeah you right, it's brillant, the battery life maybe very short, but it takes less time to charge one battery then for a battery to run out, they did a good job for that

About the Set Point, well I've downlaoded mine, so I guess it's the lastest one...

And for the resolution, I think I'm pretty close to the speed of my MX500 when I set the G7 to 800dpi, so I think I found the "sweet spot", which is setting the Pointer Speed to the 7th position. But still not sure though.

I was speaking idiomatically.
