2008 NFL Season
Free agency has begun, the draft is weeks away, but the biggest news of the offseason so far is Brett Favre retiring. Early on in an ESPN SportsNation poll, Favre is ranked #1 among a list of 20 quarterbacks which people have considered greats (2: Joe Montana; 3: Dan Marino; 4: John Elway; 5: Tom Brady

He's not to be confused with South Florida's "Calle Ocho"
Speaking of South Florida, how about that Ricky Williams? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. "Who the hell do you think I am?!"

I love Chad OchoCinqo. So much.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Wow, it's quite hilarious to see "Ocho Cinco" plastered all over his Wikipedia page. It's like hearing Rickey Henderson talk about himself in the third person, but this time it makes some sort of (twisted) sense.
So will I need to be moving "Chad Ocho Cinco" higher up in my draft list? Luckily I won't confuse him with the cornerback Chad Johnson anymore! I was speaking idiomatically. |
Well, the Patriots won despite losing Tom Brady. What a kick in the face for me. And I thought he was a good pick in my fantasy draft.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
You know, I don't even know why I bother rooting for Lions anymore. They sucked complete ass against Atlanta, a team who should be near the bottom of the league.
Well, I actually expected the Lions to do something awful this season and break my heart. They do it every year. I just didn't expect it would happen so soon. FELIPE NO ![]() |
![]() <vader>NOOOOOO!</vader> (That's what they get for wearing white at home for no reason.) How ya doing, buddy? |
Fear not Dope, Chris Simms is going to work out for the Pats on Monday. He's so good, he doesn't need a spleen to kick ass. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I get the impression that they're intentionally not trying to find anyone good to replace Brady.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
It's pretty lol that after being off the Pats injury report for the first time in 56 weeks, he actually gets bonecrushed and gonna get put back on it again, this time with an actual injury.
The Matt Cassel era has begun. Most amazing jew boots |
Seems like Brady's out for season. Incoming Myspace anthem. "How could this happen to meeeee~"
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
The Patriots' woes just seem to keep on compounding, don't they?
Where's Capo to mention the excellent Steelers performance yesterday? Come on! They kicked some ass! I was speaking idiomatically. |
So Miami destroyed the Patriots today. Could that still be contributed to Tom Brady being out or were they just that terrible today?
How ya doing, buddy? |
Don't know, I couldnt watch because DAAAAAAAAAAAAA BILLS won again today, and of course that is what they show in Buffalo.
I want the Pats to win, but its all good since Gost went 2/2 fg. FELIPE NO |
Carolina gave the first shutout of the season this year to Kansas City. Of course the Chiefs just plain suck, but at least they're not as bad as Failston and Cincishitty (Ocho Cinco is about to get fucking dropped off my damn FF list) this year.
Also what's up with the Dolphins lately. Pretty muched owned two good teams in a row. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Ok we're 9 weeks into the season, half over right? What's everyone's thoughts so far this season?
Cincy got their first win today and apparently a good ol' SLOBBERKNOCKER, MY GAWD happened with flags, hats and everything but the kitchen sink was thrown on the field during the game. (Didn't see it, but heard it over the sirius NFL Network Red Zone broadcast) With Ocho Cinqo finally getting some TD love. TB squeezed one out to cap the win (gratz Buc). Of course tonight is Indy vs Pats. With the season being topsy turvy like it has been, who do you guys think are playoff material this year? Super Bowl contenders? We gots ta bring some life in this here thread, been so quiet lately. :P Most amazing jew boots |
I am very surprised with the Colts' performance. Ever since that loss to New England last season, they have been on a downhill slope. They still managed to finish #2 in the AFC last year, but they lost their first playoff game. I hope they can defeat the Patriots tonight to maybe break that curse.
For right now, I see these teams making it to the playoffs. AFC: Titans, Steelers, Broncos, Jet Favre and the New York Bretts AFC Wild Card: Patriots (dammit), and either the Bills or the Dolphins NFC: Giants, Buccaneers, Vikings, Cardinals NFC Wild Card: Falcons, Cowboys (if Romo starts playing again) or Bears (if Romo continues to stay off the field) How ya doing, buddy? |
![]() Biggest comeback ever in franchise history, Chiefs biggest blown lead in franchise history. Took a lot of strong play to overcome 4 turnovers, but with some luck here and there, the Bucs were able to come back against a young team. They way they came back in Chicago, much like today in Kansas City, makes a strong case that this is a good team. A lot of the sports experts kept harping on how this team could very well be 4-5. They would be hypocritical to not mention the fact that they lost their 3 games by a combined 11 points, no less than 4 in any of the contests. A few plays here and there, and it's an even better win-loss record. But anywho. It's been a pretty interesting season thus far. Who saw a lot of these highly-touted, talent-rich teams down in the standings? A changing in the guard, so to speak, in the AFC with San Diego, Indy, and New England having what is considered to be off years. San Diego and New England are still very much alive in their divisions, but the Titans have almost wrapped things up in the AFC South at the mid-way point. If Indianapolis can hold off the Pats tonight and win, they still have a pretty legit shot at the wildcard in the stretch run.
As for the AFC Wildcard picture, I think it's way too close to call at this stage of the season, moreso than the NFC Wildcard race. The entire AFC, sans the Raiders, Bengals, and Chiefs, can still make a run at the playoffs. I don't know who to pick at this point. The NFC is a bit more difinitive. The NFC is more convoluted at the top of the standings. The only sure bet at this point is the Cardinals, since they play in such a terrible division, making them the only team capable of winning West. The East is a tough call, though I think if the Cowboys lose in two weeks against the Redskins, we can just about stick a fork in them. That would put them at 5-5, on the outs in the wildcard, massively down in the division, and limping with a tough schedule left. As for my beloved Southern division, I can only hope the Buccaneers win it. It'll be tough, but that Carolina win earlier in the year could end up being big going down the last two months of the year. The Buccaneers head into the bye week at 6-3, and with vs. Minnesota, @ Detroit, and vs. New Orleans. 3 winnable games (though so was today), heading into two very tough road division games, then San Diego. Hitting that at 9-3 would be fantastic. That MNF game against the Panthers will probably end up deciding the division. Predicitions! AFC Divisional Winners : Jets (East) - If the Pats win tonight, however, I give them the edge. Chargers (West) - Denver seems to be coming way back down to Earth, holds only a 1 game lead, and their defense needs to step up. Titans (South) - Kind of hard to pick against an 8-0 team with a massive divisional lead. Pittsburgh (North) - Coming into the season, it was the toughest schedule in 20 some-odd years. They have played extremely well, and if they can find a way to protect Roethel-something, then they could be one of the elite. NFC Divisional Winners : Buccaneers (South) - Panthers have only 3 home games left. Tough road ahead, but I do think they have just as a legit shot as the Bucs. Going to be a great finish here. Can't see the Falcons winning it, or even getting a wildcard with the way they've played against the rest of the South. New Orleans lost Reggie Bush for a few more weeks and their defense has been suspect all year (except for opening week, of course ![]() Redskins (East) - Though the Giants are playing tremendous football, the coming game between the two down the line is in Washington, and all remaining divisonal games are all also in the nation's capital for the Skins. Still, it's a 4 team toss up. Cardinals (West) - Everyone else is terrible. Cardinals finally make it by default, if nothing else. Packers (North) - As with the Eastern and Southern divisions, the North is a multi-team race. The Packers, Bears, and Vikings all are in contention for the title, but only one wins, and I highly doubt any of them will make it as a wildcard. Tough call, but I went with Arod and the Packers. TL;DR This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I think that last "fumble" was an incompletion, but OK. NFL clearly doesn't want the Cardinals to have a second chance.

Is it possible for fucking anything to happen without some retard on the Internet claiming that those in charge are steering the results in their favor?
Jesus christ. Just admit that it was a fantastic game and move on. Most amazing jew boots |
Look, I LOVED the game. It was up there in the top 3 Super Bowls I've seen, and probably in the top 10 all-time.
Plus, I was being sarcastic. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
No you weren't.
FELIPE NO ![]() |
Yes I was.

When you're through digging that hole, Dope, can I borrow your shovel? I need a place to store all this vomit your posts are producing.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
