Game Songs you heard somewhere else....

Ever heard a piece of game music being used elsewhere?

Like for example, Crazy Mouse on the XBOX 360 arcade. If you d/l the trial game, go to single player battle, and select the jungle level, it plays what is basically a remix of a (fairly) well known tune. It's literally almost beat for beat a straight remix.

A tune from a certain game staring a certain plumber......

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Lechuck's theme being used for the Kohl's Commercial... lol

But also The Warp whistle from Super mario bros 3 sounds like the intro to Ocarina of time

there's another one from the same two games but I can't think of it now.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I swear one time in college I heard Skies of Arcadia - Yafutoma Dawn playing on a radio in the weight room. Of course there was zero reasons why this would occur, and it's probably not true (maybe it was some generic asian music), but it sticks out in my mind.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I remember to hear that lullaby of Pan's labyrinth in the end of Rule of Roses. I found it quite sad ;_;

A part of Town Mission 4 from Sonic 06 sounds very similar to Crash Man's Stage from Mega Man 2.

Edit: My bad, I meant Flash Man's stage.

I was speaking idiomatically.

At the 2008 Olympics there was a song from SimCity 4 being played in the background during one of the men's finals in gymnastics. Also Myst 3 music at the women's syncronized swimming event.

No one guessed it? The tune is the Boss theme for Super Mario RPG. Listen to it, and you'll see. or hear.

The adds for that "Monster House" reality show used music from Robotech: Battlecry.

Adding to that, In the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the Song "Liberi Fatali" from Final Fantasy VIII was chosen by the United States team for use during the women's synchronized swimming event.

What in the fuck for?
It was 12 and a group of friends were bored and not in the mood to drink. Of course I've heard the movie is better high or drunk, which with the amt of slow mo they used I could see it. All the same, it was actually pretty funny.

I disagree but refuse to engage in a further debate on the matter. In other news, Mall Cop was worth seeing.

The Staind song Fade uses what sounds really close to the Zelda 2 intro:

Fade - Staind

Zelda II intro

Also, Ken's theme from Street Fighter 2 sounds like Cheap Trick's Mighty Wings (or at least the opening riff):

Cheap Trick - Mighty Wings

Ken's Theme

I know there's more, but those are the only two I can think of at the moment.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Various parts of Metallica's Master of Puppets sound an awful lot like the first level of Doom.

Don't know how to embed youtube videos, so here's the link.

'fraid you got that in reverse. It's a pretty well-known fact that a lot of Doom's music is based on popular metal.

Ok well I was christmas shopping last year, in Portsmouth City Centre when I realised I recognised the Musak coming out of the tannoy in the street, it was the instrumental version of Aeris's Theme played on Piano, and after working this out, it started to snow... so cool.

Oh and later that same day, the Christmas Theme from Sega NiGHTs was playing too, I nearly had a nerd-gasm when it started!

The BBC seem to be going nuts for the Littlebigplanet soundtrack. It's been in a few James May one-offs, it's been on ads for their material, it's been fucking EVERYWHERE recently. Think I even heard it on Panorama once.

Also, there's a Yakult ad that should sound familiar to anyone who's played Gears of War:

Yup, I thought that was GoW Title Screen, that advert freaks me out (I could never play Gears of War alone purely because the title screen creeped me out too much)
