So WRONG! Of course, "StarFighting Across the Universe" just HAD to be in the same week as my nomination...

American McGee's Alice Original Music Score - Wonderland Woods Given the game's nifty production design, I was hoping for something special with this track. Alas, while it's serviceable in creating a dark and off-kilter mood, the melody isn't particularly strong, and it doesn't get much in the way of variation.
Epic Pinball The Complete Collection (Game Rip) - Excalibur An okay bit of electronica, but nothing about it really spoke to me. At least it's not straight trance, I suppose. Master of Monsters - Golden Warrior A nicely funky and jazzy piece, which doesn't really fit in with the medieval setting implied by the title, but so what? It's fun. Metal Gear 20th Anniversary ~ Metal Gear Music Collection - Zanzibar Breeze Not super big on the hair metal opener, but things get better one brass and other layers are added in. Has a very Ace Combatty sound to it, which should play well with the local flight crew. Sega Arcade Selection D-RAM Remix - Sonic [Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Arcade] Another Sonic remix? I guess it is the only way to get the tunes in SotW, but... Anyway, the song spends a lot of time spinning its wheels before things really get started--but once they do, a busy and bouncy electronic sound develops that's really good. Super Stardust HD (Game Rip) - StarFighting Across The Universe Another techno track that starts out slow before launching into some terrific stuff after a dog's age of buildup. Would that they'd shucked the first third or so, but what comes after is quite worthwhile. Wonder Dog (Red Book Audio) - Dogsville The third in a techno trifecta, a little less involving than the others at its peak but it has a nice jazzy streak and is more consistent. XIISTAG & Trizeal Perfect Soundtrack - CLOUDY TODAY, AGAIN! TAKE02 Make that a techno quadrilogy. It's also more consistent than the other two, with a nice synthy lead and some good development. Pretty good week overall. The points are going to be tough, since there are four songs I'd like to reward more or less equally. The Point Spread Starfighting etc. - 2 pts. Dogsville - 2 pts. Sonic - 1 pt. Cloudy etc. - 1 pt. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
I'm currently in a temporary housing situation in which I have no reliable access to the internet. I expect this to continue for several weeks, so if my present nomination could be indefinitely deferred until I announce my return home, it would be appreciated.
Also, would it be possible for all of the nominations to be preserved somewhere so that I can enjoy them when I get back home? I dislike missing out on good stuff. Thanks much. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
1 Point.Master of Monsters - Golden Warrior
2 Points.Sega Arcade Selection D-RAM Remix - Sonic [Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Arcade] 2 Points.Super Stardust HD (Game Rip) - StarFighting Across The Universe 1 Point.XIISTAG & Trizeal Perfect Soundtrack - CLOUDY TODAY, AGAIN! TAKE02 I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
American McGee's Alice Original Music Score - Wonderland Woods is a very decent track from a very solid soundtrack. I really appreciate the moody atmosphere and the various instrumental elements (music box, chorals, violin). I don't really like the overall development, but other than that this is a nice piece of quasi-ambience.
Whoa Epic Pinball The Complete Collection (Game Rip) - Excalibur is pretty epic for a pinball track. Unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing for me. I can't even really comment on anything, since the whole 5 minutes flew by rather uneventfully. (I shouldn't have looked at the tag before I listened to this one; every time I see the name Hitoshi Sakimoto my appreciation for the song considerably drops >_>) Master of Monsters - Golden Warrior was seriously lame, but then things started swingin' a bit and grabbed my attention. Then things sort of didn't change or do anything exciting. Overall response: meh. (without Sakimoto it would have been a "ooh, this is decent") So, Metal Gear 20th Anniversary ~ Metal Gear Music Collection - Zanzibar Breeze, where's ur melody at??!1/ Seriously, I couldn't get engaged with this track due to the complete absence of a (decent) melody. The production values are pretty good, and some of the guitar work is hilariously over-the-top. But I needed a hooky melody in there somewhere. yes I'm a melody whore, what about it Sega Arcade Selection D-RAM Remix - Sonic [Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Arcade] is OK. I really like the elevator-ACTION-elevator-ACTION sound that's going on, and some of the bubbly melodies are sweet in an unsubstantial kind of way. Decent; I may give it a point. Super Stardust HD (Game Rip) - StarFighting Across The Universe sounds similar to the BSC's "StarMan's Stage". ![]() Wonder Dog (Red Book Audio) - Dogsville is so damn fun. ^___^ It's jazzy, slick and contains heaps of cool melodies. It also helps that the Genesis sound quality is infectiously nostalgic. And oh my, 1:27 is so very nice. Also, 2:02. This song sounds like such an accurate depiction of a dogsville, too. ![]() XIISTAG & Trizeal Perfect Soundtrack - CLOUDY TODAY, AGAIN! TAKE02 didn't do anything for me. Not going to comment on this one, similar to teh epic pinballZ. heyy that's a pretty nice POINT!!! oh, it's hitoshi sakimoto's. well, i hate it 3 points: Wonder Dog (Red Book Audio) - Dogsville 1 point: American McGee's Alice Original Music Score - Wonderland Woods 1 point: Super Stardust HD (Game Rip) - StarFighting Across The Universe 1 point: Sega Arcade Selection D-RAM Remix - Sonic [Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Arcade] 5th: Master of Monsters - Golden Warrior 6th: Metal Gear 20th Anniversary ~ Metal Gear Music Collection - Zanzibar Breeze 7th: Epic Pinball The Complete Collection (Game Rip) - Excalibur 8th: XIISTAG & Trizeal Perfect Soundtrack - CLOUDY TODAY, AGAIN! TAKE02 Pretty poor week, IMO. Don't think I'll be keeping any of them (apart from my nom). =N I was speaking idiomatically.

My next nom:
Album: STORM! - SHOOTING GAME SOUND OMNIBUS Vol.2 Composer: no idea Track: SOUND 02 Track #: 22 Catalogue #: KDSD-00023 Year: 2004 Source: KDSD-00023: STORM! - SHOOTING GAME SOUND OMNIBUS Vol.2 - VGMdb This album is just a compilation of shooter music, none of the tracks are arrangements as far as I know. This song is from Zero Gunner 2; it takes place on the first part of the Marine Base stage, one of the 4 randomly selected stages at the beginning of the game. Reason I'm using this version is because the quality is noticeably higher than the gamerip version I have. I'll upload to the FTP shortly. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Keeping voting open a little bit longer because we're a touch low on votes (currently 14, I like having at least 15), maybe a straggler or two will come in. If not no big deal, I'll just close in the morning/afternoon with what we've got.
I'm a little bit more concerned about nominations, since two people who have tracks this week are up for next week as well. BIG TEXT LET'S HAVE SOME MUSIC etc. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Nominations from this album are not too popular just becauseofonetrackright?
2003.12.26: [-Aka-] Complete Edition Original Soundtrack - Primitive <feel> [1.18] Old Castle I currently don't have the track with me, because I thought I still have time till next week, but it should be lying around somewhere nearby. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Completely forgot to vote. Guess you can't do without me, but you shouldn't have waited for my input, hehe...
(2 points) Metal Gear 20th Anniversary ~ Metal Gear Music Collection - Zanzibar Breeze (2 points) Super Stardust HD (Game Rip) - StarFighting Across The Universe (1 point) Master of Monsters - Golden Warrior (1 point) Wonder Dog (Red Book Audio) - Dogsville StarFighting Across The Universe is really good, but if it would have been Super Ice Ice Baby from the same soundtrack, it would have received 3 points. The rest of the songs was great, interesting nominations everyone! FELIPE NO |
Here's my next nomination:
* Album Title: Mouryousenki Madara 2 Sound Fantasia * Artist: Konami Kukeiha Club & Neko Saitoh * Track Title: Soldier's Rest (Mukuri Tribe Camp BGM) * Source: Game Music Revolution * File Location: Nominations folder (upcoming) * Disc Number: 1 (of 1) * Track Number: 8 * Catalogue Number: KICA-7618 * Year: 1993 What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
I think therefore I am... I think.
