File namer? numberer?

I'm look for a program that can number my files.

I have a ton of mp3s I want to number 1-1000 or w/e and the only program i can find adds numbers like this

1filename
2filename

I'm looking for one with more options like

1 - filename
2 - filename

anyone know a good one?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Tag&Rename is pretty much the greatest thing known to man.

Alternatively, Oscar's Renamer.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

awesome gelb, that program rocks. ANother queston, i use foobar and have album artwork for my albums, what can i name it so foobar shows it when i play my music (and my mp3 player)

Currently i see that cover and front work, but when my files aren't numbered there tends to be a jpeg in the middle of my music files.

is there any way to ensure than the jpeg file remains at the back of the folder and still will show in foobar?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Foobar 2000 can do this with like a million options.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Tag & Rename works well for Audio. To have the same functionality with all other files, try the freeware "RenameMaster".

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I'm in tag and rename but cant find a way to "batch" tag track numbers. does anyone know how i can do this, is it even possible?

like for a mixed cd, the titles are

01 - filename
02 - filename
03 - filename

but i want to mp3 tags to have what track number they are as well, for listing purposes, and i cant seem to figure it out. i see album, artist, etc, but not track #

I think you will have to use Oscar's Renamer or RenameMaster to manually add the track numbers to your files. Then, use Tag & Rename to get the Tags from the File Name with this mask : %6 - %2
