Internet Issues

So my girlfriend's got a bit of an issue with her internet. She's being put up in a hotel for the summer by the company she's working for, but the internet service in her room is a bit crazy.

First off, she's able to connect to services like AIM without a problem. Websites like google, yahoo, and various other websites will load slowly, but as soon as you try and log on anywhere, it locks up. Like, I can access mail.yahoo.com, but if I try to sign in, I'll get an error message every time.

The laptop works fine using the lobby's wired connection, though it has the same problem in different rooms. She got some random lady to let her borrow her laptop, and that one also had the same problem on her room's connection.

She's talked with the tech desk for the hotel, and they claim to have checked it out and say it's completely on her end, but I don't believe that at all. Any suggestions on what she can try to do?

Also: Running XP Home, using a PCIMA networking card, and there's a DSL modem inside the room (I tried resetting it a few times while I was there but had no luck).

Do you have the latest drivers for your wireless card? If so you could try reinstalling the drivers, sometimes that works for me when I am having problems.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It's a wired card, and we've tried it with a few different sets of drivers for the card.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If it works fine using the lobby's connection, than I doubt it is the laptop. The rooms themselves are probably the problem. They may just be too cheap or lazy to fix them. It could just be cheap modems. Though if you felt like it, you could try reinstalling the TCP/IP protocol.
