Mega Ran - VG related rhyming that's actually good
Though it's already in the topic, I feel it bears repeating: This album is pretty damned good. The lyrics are relevant, catchy, and WELL-DELIVERED. The beats are crafted from the various NES Mega Man games, with Rock and Roll being the only exception using samples from Rockman Zero 1. I posted this in my journal, but I really want to know if other people will enjoy this album as much as I am. Random is a highly talented lyricist and this album would make any Mega Man fan smile, as far as I'm concerned.

Normally I let sleeping dogs lie, dead topics stay dead... but I've been listening to Mega Ran again and digging the vibe and it bothers me that no one has stated whether or not they've felt the same way. Come on folks, I know you can help a brother out here as far as giving an opinion.

Would you be willing to reupload it? It sounds pretty interesting!

Any chance you could reupload it to say....rapidshare? Megaupload dislikes me.

Well, sorry to say, but suddenly rapidshare doesn't like me either. I guess I could...
Spoiler:
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Well, the thing is that if you look at the "5 latest posts", it doesn't reflect spoiler tags. However, when I did read it and my eyes first scanned "sorry to say", I was all "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey!"

I liked it. Good concept and good execution. Using the Megas' version of Metalman was a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for sharing! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Well, thanks for the upload. I might warm up to it, but I didn't like it that much on an initial listen.

I have it and i love it. I am a hip hop fan and also a big megaman fan, so combining both is a great idea to me. Random is a great lyricist and also a pretty good beat maker. The album is great and fun.

His work was pretty sick, definitely. I think lyrically, he really manages to compliment and do the series justice. But that's mostly because his talent extends beyond one subject. Unlike most other VG related rhyming I see, which could create a "smh" that could throw planet Earth out of orbit.

I listened to this a couple times. There are a few good tracks, but most of it is too rap-based to do it for me. Also, several tracks managed to take the music and make it near unrecognizable, which was disappointing. I think my biggest surprises were "MegaLude" (good instrumental track), "Metal Man" (rock-infused rap), and "Rock and Roll" (Mega Man Zero music? In my arrange album?).
One thing that irked me is that Random didn't seem to do enough research on the stuff he's rapping over. He attributes multiple MM3 tracks to MM4, claims MM8 was on the SNES (it was actually on PSX/Saturn), and cites the MMZero track as coming from "the Rockman soundtrack". Overall, this album definitely shows production values. I just don't like how the source music was downplayed in many tracks, and also I don't care for the narcissistic role-playing story Random's lyrics are based on. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
