Damn, and I was going to nominate that artist too! So, instead, I offer:
Album: XIISTAG & Trizeal Perfect Soundtrack Composer: Naoto Arranger: Go Sato Track Title: CLOUDY TODAY, AGAIN! TAKE02 Track Number: 28 Year: 2006 Catalog Number: INDV-0108 Source: INDV-0108: XIISTAG & Trizeal Perfect Soundtrack - VGMdb Track: Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Aozora Magiccer!! Original Soundtrack - Run Through the Forest I like the moxie of this song. It's got a nice cheesy-but-not-too-cheesy 70's disco sound going, and mixes in some healthy rhythms, synths, and a nice danceable melody. Very impressive on every level!
Cybattler (Game Rip) - MISSION 1: INTERCEPTION Nice chippy variation on the badass, bass-heavy, rhythm-heavy propulsive drive song (is that even a genre? I guess it is now!). Enjoyable throughout, with some nice variations and excellent usage of its synths. Onimusha 2 Orchestra Album ~Taro Iwasiro Selection~ - Chapter VII Truth of Guile A bit of a letdown from two excellent songs in a row, but still pretty good. The hi-hat and electric bass gives this song an interesting contemporary feel, and the string melody is attractive. I just wish there was more development; it seems like the same few bars are repeated way too often (especially for a live performance!). Phantom Kingdom Arrange Album - Alexander the God of Destruction A pretty garden-variety dance track. The acoustic and guitar elements add a bit of flair, but the oppressive and repetitive beats get boring after a while. Alexander frankly sounds like he destroys by slipping Ecstasy into people's drinks at the club. Powerslave (Saturn Red Book Audio) - End Credits This has a tribal, at times almost Egyptian, feel. It's got a nice new age vibe, but I feel like more could have been done with the melody and beat rather than just rehashing it over and over. Sagaia (Saturn Game Rip) - Jamming Nice little synth-rock confection. Some of the echoplex effects are a little over the top, and I've certainly heard better approaches to the genre, but it's solid and enjoyable overall. Super Mega Drive Fan - Mega Drive Super Music Collection Vol.2 - AFTER-6290 MIX [Sonic the Hedgehog CD]p A much more bouncy and pleasant techno sound, with some nice nods to the original tune throughout. I really could have done without the vox, though--I don't need to be reminded that I'm listening to Sonic every five seconds, thankyouverymuch. Wangan Midnight Soundtrack - Keiichi Aizawa's Theme A nicely varied and melodic romp that is solid throughout (what would you expect from the new _DH_?). The synth and guitars are good, but the opening of the song was the most impressive part for me, and I was glad when that sound cropped up again at the loop. A great week, all things considered. Some weaklings, but a nice spread of good tracks that lined up neatly for point distribution. The Point Spread Run Through the Forest - 3 pts. MISSION 1: INTERCEPTION - 2 pts. Keiichi Suzuki's Theme - 1 pt. Chapter VII - Honorary Nonbinding Sympathy Point Nom Album: Heavy Metal FAKK2 Promo Soundtrack Composer: Zak Belica Track Title: Eden Suite Track Number: 3 Year: 2001 Notes: This doesn't share any music with "Eden Normal," a previous nomination from the same game. How ya doing, buddy? ![]()

Run Through the Forest - is certainly interesting that's for sure. Definitely gets across the running feeling with some funky groovy quick beats. Kind of reminds me of something that should have been FFX-2 I could see it working in the game, but outside it wouldn't be something I would listen to. Maybe it can get a vote depending on competition.
Inteception - not a big fan on the chippy stuff, but it's not the worse I heard. Chapter 7 Guile - was actually going to nominate Chapter 1 Truth of Brave, or Chapter 3 Resolution for those who know of the album, but I thought this one would be more accessible to a random listener. Ch 1 takes like 2 minutes to get started (ala liberation of gracemeria), but phenomenal nonetheless, and Ch.3 is a slow, sad beautiful song that seemingly would play at a funeral or something. So I went for Ch.7 that hits you from the opening. I didn't even know what a hi-hat was lol. Orion made me look it up =D. Alexander the God of Destruction - I like the feel of this. Glad the vocals were only for a bit though. Sometimes it is a little all over the place, but the melody is nice when it comes in. I'll save this one. Best so far, besides my nomination. End Credits - Great credit tracks are rare. I recognize that this one would probably rank higher if I had played Powerslave and went through the whole egyptian setting, because it does grow on you for sure. Not great, mediocre. Jamming - infectious AFTER-6290 MIX - uhh =( Sonic tracks are either amazing or subpar. This is the latter. SONICCCCCCCCCCC BOOM Keiichi Aizawa's Theme - Nice piano, love the opening as well and was waiting for it to come back. Another keeper. Vote Chapter VII - Truth of Guile - (3pts) Keiichi Aizawa's Theme - (1pt) Alexander the God of Destruction - (1pt) Jamming - (1pt) I struggled on whether to give Keiichi another point. ;_; but wanted to give the bottom two credit for being pleasant. Overall pretty decent tracks here. Run through the forest, and credits would be next in order. I was speaking idiomatically.

A lot of depth this week. My first choice was clear but deciding what else garnered points took some work.
(3 points) Onimusha 2 Orchestra Album ~Taro Iwasiro Selection~ - Chapter VII Truth of Guile: It totally lacks development, but I was in love with the sound right from the start. And sometimes it takes extra effort for orchestral tracks to hit home like this one did. Is the rest of the album nearly as good? (1 point) Sagaia (Saturn Game Rip) - Jamming 1 point) Aozora Magiccer!! Original Soundtrack - Run Through the Forest (1 point) Cybattler (Game Rip) - MISSION 1: INTERCEPTION With apologies to: Wangan Midnight Soundtrack - Keiichi Aizawa's Theme What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Wow BZ, you're right! Aozora Magiccer!! Original Soundtrack - Run Through the Forest does sound like something that could've been in FFX-2~! Putting that compliment/criticism aside, I really enjoy this track. It's danceable, funky, and contains some awesome melodies. Each passage has its own distinct melody, which makes this track a really fun one to listen to! The opening really hooks me in every single time, it's great.
Cybattler (Game Rip) - MISSION 1: INTERCEPTION had a really fun drive and enthusiastic nature. But it's always important for a track to back up those traits with a solid melody. The melody here is decent, but not as catchy or memorable as I would have liked. Still, a fairly fun listen! 'K lemme see what all the fuss is about----- ![]() ![]() I love the Phantom Kingdom soundtrack, it's wonderful. I haven't heard the arrange album, so I have high hopes for Phantom Kingdom Arrange Album - Alexander the God of Destruction! And yes, it's a pretty great arrangement overall. The blend of instrumental exoticism and entertaining electronica is truly a treat to the ears! =3 Powerslave (Saturn Red Book Audio) - End Credits is a solid piece of easy (world) listening. I really like the ethnic accentuations and the overall smooth, graceful development. The melody's not too engaging, but damn, this is a nice track all right. (niggle: the percussion is a tad too emphasised at points) Sagaia (Saturn Game Rip) - Jamming didn't really do anything for me. I like the introduction of the melody, but after that things just wear so thin and my interest wanes. 2 sonic tracks in two weeks, aye? I was thinking of nominating one, too. ![]() Wangan Midnight Soundtrack - Keiichi Aizawa's Theme is a great track. It's fun-loving, and has an infectious sound about it. The cute little synth melody is great, too, and the choral work is just as ![]() i'm just not feeling this POINT 2 points: Aozora Magiccer!! Original Soundtrack - Run Through the Forest 2 points: Wangan Midnight Soundtrack - Keiichi Aizawa's Theme 1 point: Powerslave (Saturn Red Book Audio) - End Credits 1 point: Phantom Kingdom Arrange Album - Alexander the God of Destruction 5th: Cybattler (Game Rip) - MISSION 1: INTERCEPTION 6th: Super Mega Drive Fan - Mega Drive Super Music Collection Vol.2 - AFTER-6290 MIX [Sonic the Hedgehog CD] 7th: Sagaia (Saturn Game Rip) - Jamming 8th: Onimusha 2 Orchestra Album ~Taro Iwasiro Selection~ - Chapter VII Truth of Guile A slightly above-average week. All of the tracks had at least something I enjoyed, if only for 5 seconds, so that's nice. * just realised BZ said the exact same thing, but he wasn't talking about the track I was talking about :P FELIPE NO |

In my opinion best orchestra album out there from what I listened to. Then again I am no VGM expert though. I'd put it over Shenmue Orchestra Album just because there are a few more tracks that I don't care for on it, unlike Onimusha, which has just 1. And if anyone has the album could someone tell me in Chapter I Truth of Brave at the 4:14 time mark, how can someone play a violin that fast? I suck at identifying instruments, but I am assuming it is a violin, correct me if I am wrong. And if it is I would like to see the person playing it. ( I just have a picture in my head of him going crazy with it lol) Jam it back in, in the dark.

Aozora Magiccer!! Original Soundtrack - Run Through the Forest
Oh!! I like the funky style, and the composition is decent enough to enjoy. Cybattler (Game Rip) - MISSION 1: INTERCEPTION Certainly fits the title of the game. An OK tune; I can listen to it yet I'm not really moved while doing so. Onimusha 2 Orchestra Album ~Taro Iwasiro Selection~ - Chapter VII Truth of Guile Beautiful strings and cool percussion. I like the name of the artist team too. The melodies are not phenomenal however, but it still makes a pleasant listen. Phantom Kingdom Arrange Album - Alexander the God of Destruction The beginning is 10/10 material, then the stock dance beat comes in and the rating drops considerably. Sad, yet it's still a neat song overall. I remember the composer from the Cross Hermit nomination. Powerslave (Saturn Red Book Audio) - End Credits This tune is not in the PSX version, right? At least, I haven't heard it before. Very nice surprise! I like the chillout mood and ethnic instrumentation. It's too bad the song is repetitive, yet I can still tough it throughout well enough. Sagaia (Saturn Game Rip) - Jamming I like rock, even of the cheesy kind. I wasn't familiar with this OGR soundtrack, and being a fine surprise, I think I'll try to get my hands on the rest of the music. While somewhat generic, the guitar work is enjoyable. Super Mega Drive Fan - Mega Drive Super Music Collection Vol.2 - AFTER-6290 MIX [Sonic the Hedgehog CD] Sonic who ? (part 2) Enjoyable at times, but the whole feels heavy after a while, monotonous even. Wangan Midnight Soundtrack - Keiichi Aizawa's Theme Umm... I think I've heard of this composer before, but I'm really not sure. Or is it Yuzo Obscuro? Anyway, this is certainly a good tune, albeit a little too "happy-happy" and simplistic in a bad way at times. Series-wise, this soundtrack didn't achieve putting me in a trance like the second (or third) ones did. Still, I'd say "Keiichi Aizawa's Theme" is one of the better themes from it. I guess the SotW context brings down my opinion of it a tad, as I believe it's not the most obscure nom one could find. ------------------ (2 points) Aozora Magiccer!! Ack, I forgot to listen to the songs and vote this week. I kept thinking today was Sunday (we have a public holiday today back where I'm from). Would like to request for an upload of Week 148's songs if that's possible. At the very least, I'd like to be able to hear all the tracks. Thanks!
How ya doing, buddy?
I think therefore I am... I think.
