What are some good games for a 5 year old?

I have to watch my younger cousin every now and then and he plays on my computer cause hes grown to like video games, he enjoys the sonic the hedgehog series the most, and is very into Sonic adventure 2 and sonic heroes. Other titles of interest are klonoa, tomba and spyro the dragon for psx, and TMNT, golden axe and Xmen the arcade game for mame.
What are some games you would recommend for someone his age? It prolly should be a platformer/beat em up with simple controls, minimum text and nothing too gruesome. He doesnt care for fighting games, or the Smackdown vs series, or the megaman series cause it got kinda difficult for him.
Other enjoyable titles were

-gunstar heroes
-ocarina of time
-some random beat um ups for neogeo and arcade
-TMNT games for snes

I should note he plays sports and is healthy and I take him outside or away from the tv/monitor sometimes, just if you were wondering

most of SNES side scrolling will do. I recommend Super Mario World and other nintendo games.

You can't beat the Super Mario side scrollers.

If anything today, try Super Mario Galaxy.
