Typing problems with my laptop

For a while now, I have been having typing issues with my laptop. When I am typing up documents in microsoft word (and sometimes outside of microsoft word), the blinking vertical line (the thing that is in the location of the next letter you type) randomly moved to a different part of the document while i am typing. Sometimes the window even minimizes for no reason.

Does anyone recognize this problem? Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Sounds like parts of your hand are brushing up against the touchpad (does your laptop have one?) Or you have a malfunctining one.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have a touchpad, but it's definitely not my hand rubbing against it.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You can try disabling your touchpad and using a USB mouse to see if it fixes the problem.

I've had the same problem before and swore that wasn't what was happening, but it turned out it was.

How do you disable your touch pad?

I was speaking idiomatically.

It'd be under pointer options under mouse properties in control panel.

I know a person who's cursor started to do that where he wasn't using the touchpad but because his hand was on the palm rest area the cursor would jump from time to time.

So try touching the palm rest area and see if your cursor jumps.

If its in the warranty period you can get that fixed fairly easily.

Some laptops (like mine) also have a small button near the touchpad that you can press to disable them.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
