Dragonlance: The Movie(based on chronicles)

Official Dragonlance Movie Site | News, gossip, views and rumours surrounding movies beased on the Wizards of the Coast Dragonlance fantasy world and Dragonlance novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

Is this fake? it looks to good to be true.. when i first saw it months ago, i think it was.

Now.. on the forums something about a trailer shown on gencon, its gonna be animated.. going straight to DVD(out this NOV). It was so good, it moved marget weis an tracy hickmen to tears.

It has a pretty good VA cast too.. if its fake, i hope they die a painful death.. if not, OMG. I grow up on these books.

It's real, though the CG looks god awful, especially the mixture of the two mediums. I'll remain skeptical of this movie, especially since it's going straight to DVD.

oh.. i dont care.. i want the movie. NOW. lol

Id love to see a trailer though. I think they are going straight to DVD, cuz they know the fans will buy it.. and they will get profit quicker. Im sure its not cheap to throw it into movie theatres.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

No it's not cheap at all to produce movies, even animated ones, however, typically a straight to DVD movie meant that the movie is not up to Hollywood caliber and the studios just want to recoupe the cost. I hope this movie is not a disservice to the fans. I'm one of them. I enjoyed the first book and I'm almost down with Spring Dawning. I'll remain skeptical until the movie is actually released and reviews are in.

How does Dragonlance series fit in with The Legend of Huma and Kaz the Minotaur? Those were the only books that I read that had the Dragonlance logo at the top of the books and whatnot, so I'm guessing they are apart of the series somehow, but I know they aren't written by the same author who started them. They're written by Richard A. Knaak (brilliant writer, I thoroughly enjoyed The Legend of Huma, one of the best fantasy books ever). In the book Huma does get ahold of those silver Dragonlances to take out Takhisis, but I'm guessing this happens way after the original Dragonlance series, since I looked at the cast information there and it lists Paladine, and he was supposed to be some legendary God that took out Takhisis a long time ago or something, as far as I can remember from reading in Huma.

The chronicles come way after the Legend of Huma.

And this movie looks like shit. Bad CG and 90 minutes? You won't cover anything of value. Granted, DL books are fairly thin skinned and, well, awful to begin with, but this movie doesn't look to be doing it any favours.

Magius is in the Legend of Huma. Raistlin uses his staff. It's quite a ways after.

Damn, I haven't read those books in like 6+ years.

Huh. I always wondered if they were going to follow through with this. I've been following this for the longest time (since at least the late 90's).

The cast looks decent although Keifer Sutherland as Raistlin is a bit of surprise, but I guess I can see how it would work out.

Looks like I'll have to break out the book again and give it another read. I stopped reading after I started Dragons of Summer Flame, but I have the whole series after that.

The music sounds pretty. Heh, I'm reminded a bit of Silvermoon City from Warcraft... but I guess that's how elven music is always represented; chorus and harps.

Oh I saw something on the main movie page, said something about a theatrical release? Late 07/early 08 for Northern Hemisphere?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That musical sneak peek ain't half bad. Also Laura Hickman isn't too bad on the eyes.

Can't wait for the trailer on Monday

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The trailer is out... and well... They really should have chose one style of animation instead of trying to blend two together. While the traditional animation isn't really all that bad, it's not all that great either. I'll probably still buy this because of it being Dragonlance, but I wish it had been done a little bit different. :|

Wow. That looked so bad. I'm really hesitant at this point to see it, though I'll probably check it out for curiosity's sake by downloading it. Seriously, this license could've been good but it looks like they're flushing it down the toilet. The 2D animation was OK but the blending between that and the 3D was horrible. It should've been either all 2D or even all 3D but judging from the quality of the 3D here it probably would've been worse. Blah.

I would have been stoked to see that trailer when I was seven years old in 1988, but it's not doing so much for me right now. I loved the books and I think that I will leave it at that.

That movie looks hilariously bad. Crappy saturday morning GI Joe quality 2d animation mixed with crappy 90's early CG animation = FAIL, for a certainty. They should have spent less money on the big names and more on paying the artists, hahah... oh well, Dragonlance blows anyway.

Wow, people still try to pass that cheap trick as cel-shading. My personal opinion - if they were allowed to put this online, nothing spectacular will change anymore.
