lower notebook cpu speed
is there a program or setting in windows that can lower my cpu speed to about 50%?
this way the fan wont come on at night when im downloading torrents and i can sleep peacefully thanks! Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Which version of Windows are you using?
If it is Vista go into your power settings, customise and then advance settings; in there is an option that allows you to set by how much Windows will lower your clock speed in % terms. Its best if you create a new profile for this for your convienience. There's nowhere I can't reach.

Even if you have Windows XP, you should have some sort of power saving option. Usually if you click on the battery icon located on the lower right screen, you'll get options to change your speed.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.  Dance party! |
