Internet Outages...?

This article is talking about 'brown outs' happening after the next few years due to excessive bandwidth... I don't know if I believe this. What is your take on it?

Apparently it is going to cost far more to upkeep the servers and what not due to accelerated growth and internet availability around the globe. Internet upkeep will also require a lot more money. (60 to 80 billion more than present rates, I believe)

Regarding internet brownouts...

If it happens, it happens. (Sooner rather than later.) My productivity is decreased about 80 percent while on the internet so it probably won't kill me to be away from it.

I can't imagine what not having the internet would be like.

I mean, it's an essential tool for getting a lot of shit done. It's a very useful tool when you're hunting for information. Sure, you could go to a library, but doing a quick google search is far more time efficient.

E-mail would be inaccessible, a lot of the automated phone systems that companies rely on would go down.

But... then again they might just be making up bullshit so they can start charging us more. Who knows.

That is what I am thinking (a reason to increase the cost). I still remember waaaay back when we had dial up and always got the busy single. We'd call to ask and always get the (standard I guess), "It is because we are trying to incorporate new servers" or something like that.
