Blackout experiences

No, I'm not talking about the metallic beast from Transformers.

Have you have gotten a blackout as in lost conscious?
If yes, would you mind telling us what it was like during that time you were out? That is, if you remember...

For me, I had a bicycle accident a few years ago. It was downhill and I was going very fast.
From what I can remember, it was all black in empty space. I did hear some noises around me, but I couldn't figure out what the noises were.
I woke up a few hours later with a alot of people around me and somebody told me that I kept asking what day it was :|

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Um... I supposed my only moment is when I was getting a blood test.

I hate needles as it is, and I supposed I was going to close my eyes so I wouldn't think about the blood being withdrawn out of me. When I open my eyes, slowly but surely, the blood test is over, and my mom is by my side laughing at me and trying to make me open my eyes.

Apparently I was out for another ten minutes after my blood test had ended.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The only one I've experienced was intended.

This took place right before my knee surgery. I was told to crab-crawl over on to the operating table, and as soon as I remember lowering myself, BAM. Memory is gone and I'm semi-conscious in the recovery room.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

When I was in 5th grade, I was playing catch on the pavement, and suddenly, I felt something slam into me, then I found myself horizontal, and then out cold.

I woke up with a crowd of kids around me. I felt surprisingly refreshed and was like "what's the big deal?" When I went to the nurses office, I found out what the big deal was. I had a huge black eye and chipped my front tooth.

Postscript: I've tried having this tooth fixed numerous times to no avail. The seal would keep coming off because it was so small. So, I've left it there. It's a trademark of my face.

One time whilst I was hospitalised I (according to the doctor and several of the nursing staff) stood dead still for about an hour without responding to any stimulus whatsoever. I still have no recollection of this event, just before and after.

Nope, hasn't happened to me, which is a good thing. I cannot imagine having that hapen to me, kinda creeps me out to be honest. I am afraid of anesthetic as well... the thought of being out of my own control scares me.

In second grade, I passed out and had a seizure for no reason. I remember my legs collapsing out from under me, and my body falling down to my right, hitting the ground, then everything went black. I woke up with sand in my mouth and kids standing all around.

Later, a battery of tests was done, and the results were completely normal and showed no abnormalities whatsoever. I guess it's just one of those random things.

How ya doing, buddy?

I had what you might call a brainshock last fall. I was trying to get to sleep one night and then I started realizing a tingly sensation in my head, almost like electricity was passing from the left halve to the right halve of the brain.

Then I was out...except it was far from unconsciousness. I will mention that I could see nothing and wanted to see nothing. I felt that I was unconscious and yet there was consistently a period of what I felt to be electricity going through my head at regular intervals for about 20 minutes, each burst occurring every approximately 10 to 15 seconds.

I couldn't get my balance or my bearings. I thought I was going to die. Then I really blacked out. When I woke up, I felt like I had been hit by a truck.

hehe. Sweetness.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I have a really bad back due to an accident I had when I was around 11. Anyway, I went on a ride at a theme park; one of the old school rides made of wood and people can fly out of the carriages at any second. Well during one of the big drops I was lifted out of the cart and when the drop levelled out at the bottom I smacked back down in the seat and hurt my back. That night when I was in the bathroom, I bent down to pick something up and my lower back just started to hurt like no other. Usually when I get this type of pain, it fades out, but not this time. It just kept throbbing, next thing I know i'm waking up on the floor with my mum banging on the door shouting "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THERE?".

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Too much booze. I blacked out just standing taking a leak and woke up in the bathtub in front of the toilet. A certain native american spiritual aid made me black out too.

Thats probably passing out but thats the closest I ever came.

I'm missing an entire evening of memories from earlier this year. Turns out I completely lost my shit over something (I can't remember what, and nobody seemed to want to tell me), and I wound up taking a term off school as a result. Not sure if that was a loss of consciousness or a loss of memory.

Medical occasions: Blood tests always make me black out, no matter what. It's partially a physical aversion to needles (not a fear - I'm fine with the idea, but it just happens) although probably more to do with the blood loss. Vaccinations do this occasionally, but that hasn't happened for a while. Anesthesia's another obvious one, although I've only been put under for jaw surgery and a groin operation ().

More recently: Two weeks ago I dropped MDMA whilst already under the influence of psilocybin mushrooms. After maybe twenty minutes of giddiness and fun side-effects, I went to lie down and woke up twelve hours later with the worst headache of my life and an odd detached sensation in my limbs. My friends told me I wouldn't wake up when slapped and they were convinced I was dead. I remember being convinced that I was going to kick it that night, too. Not going to do that again.

You know those scenes in TV shows/Movies where someone pops the other in the face and knocks him/her out cold with that single punch, does it cause a black out that easily?

Are we talking about the new Britney Spears album?

Freshman year of high school I had a nut PE teacher who would make us run endless miles for 2 hours in the Southern California heat. One day I was feeling particularly nasty after an especially grueling session so I went to the nurse's office where I proceeded to black out just as I opened the door to her office. She caught me, dragged me to a cot and spent the next hour having a loud conversation with her officemate while I existed in a state of limbo. I could hear everything they were saying but couldn't move or say anything, it was the weirdest thing.

"These miles are killing the kids!"

I blacked out reading Capo's copypasta entry. For real, its funny that I love reading journals but that one just... I guess the story he had copied down was so damn good it just affected my sense of... frailty of the human body. That shit really messed me up for days. Thankfully he posted a warning to it now.

What happened was as I read nearly 4/5th way into the entry, and the scene about the pool and I suppose when it hit home to what really happened at that instance and horrible choice from biting and breathing in water... well I cringe so damn much in my stomach. I remember in a split second thinking I was going to throw up but I actually lost consciousness as I was moving towards the trash bin besides me. Basically I slumped down in my chair sideways, and all I remember was instant flashes of memories of my life going through my head and my heart was thudding really loud.

I woke slowly feeling a sensation of my fingernails touching the wall and the underside of my desk. I wouldn't say I caught myself, I'm probably reaching. As I came to, I kinda pushed myself into correct position in my chair but it was exhausting! I sat there very weak feeling and slowly it dawned to me to what just happened as I see the entry on screen.

That story is fucked up.

Disclaimer: Apparently, a typical 60% of the population that heard this story or read it would have pass out too.

Not that long ago, I found out the hard way that I am sensitive to some type of medicine. I was lying down as I was getting the medicine. I then needed to drink some other medicine. I sat up, and everything started to become fuzzy, and I felt sorta spaced out. Next thing I know, I feel like I am underwater, but in a very intense dream. Like too real to be a dream, in which I was coming to with people yelling at me. That was pretty darn scary, as just about nothing makes me fall asleep easily.

It happened to me about two month ago. I have a friend who is a RPM instructor (you know, that thing where you ride on a bike along with the music).

But the thing is that I made a very very very stupid mistake. I was on a diet and didn't eat anything for the past three days (just water and "mate" (which is basically hot water with herbs)). Near the end of the class I started to feel dizzy (ironic, i know) and passed out three times in a row. I couldn't hear anything either.

My friend had to jump from his bike to catch me. He told me that he was scared to death. When i woke up for the third time I started to laugh. To me it was a funny experience (not for him though).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

A funny story that happened while I was rollerblading when I was about 12. I was going down streets I didn't recognize (it was a small town) because I thought'd I'd explore. Of course I brought a friend. Anyways, I turned around (because I'm a pro) and was skating backwards talking to my friend.

He yelled really loudly to turn around and watch out. When I did, I was going down the biggest fucking hill in my life (it was pratically like a drop) and my breaks weren't helping that much either (I was actually afraid I was going to knock myself into the pavement). I blacked out past halfway through because I never have remember hitting the curb at the bottom. Last thing I remembered was my heart felt like it was exploding out of my chest.

When I awoke, I was told that I had sprained my wrist. Yeah, after going 100000 miles per hour, all I did was sprain my wrist. I guess I must have landed on a fucking pillow or something.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I was learning 'Tumbling' from a martial arts instructor in a private class, and he would keep throwing me down onto the mat (no, it was not soft) while I was learning how to fall/land correctly. All of a sudden I got up, and I asked him why there was glitter falling from the ceiling, everything went dark and I stumbled backwards. It only lasted a few seconds, but it's the only blackout I've ever had... I don't even know if that counts.

For whatever reason, I get lightheaded when I hear people talking about anything medical in detail. I'm perfectly fine when I see it, or even when it happens to me, but my imagination somehow does something crazy when I hear it.

The first time was after donating blood back in high school. I was sitting at the table, munching on my cookies and sipping juice, when the two people next to me start recounting giving blood for whatever reason. I was already low on blood, and with them talking about needle punctures and the like, it just quickly got to me. I passed out on the table.

The other time was before I got my wisdom teeth pulled. I had to see the oral surgeon where he would explain the process to me and such. Of course, they are required to tell me what can go wrong, even in the rare cases. Even though I knew those things wouldn't happen to me, his explanations were very detailed, and it caused me to pass out and fall on the floor. The surgery was almost called off as a result, but I insisted. Of course, the actual surgery had no problems.

And ironically enough (since this topic is about blackouts), the day I got my wisdom teeth pulled was when that huge blackout hit the Northeast US for a couple days in 2003.

I've never fully blacked out, although I swear I almost did one time at work. I hadn't slept at all the night before. Yes I know that's a very dumb mistake. There were a couple moments at work that day that I blacked out for a second, as in everything actually went black but then I stumbled almost about to fall over and I snapped myself out of it.

Then when it's time for me to leave, the manager tries to convince me to stay because someone called in sick. I refuse and explain why to which he says "Well that's your fault, not mine. Now I need you to stay." Needless to say, I told him no and left because he can't force me to stay because we're a union store.

For me it did. I was beaten up a few months ago and I don't recall actually being hit. I just woke up when the police arrived and when I found out my nose was bleeding, I figured out I was knocked down.
