Need Advice: TV / Home Theater System

I'm moving into my own place in December and up until now I've always had a living room tv, etc. in the apartment. Now that I'll be alone I've got to get myself some form of television / speaker system in my living room.

I've been looking at LCD HDTVs and a few home theater systems.

Now as far how much I'm willing to spend, I'd like to not go over 600ish total. My living room isn't all too big and I was thinking max tv size would be 27" and because I do live in an apartment with neighbors to consider, I don't want something too powerful in terms of a surround system.

In my searches on Newegg and walmart I've found these:

Olevia Black 27" 16:9 8ms LCD HDTV With ATSC Tuner Model 227V
Newegg.com - Recertified: Olevia Black 27" 16:9 8ms LCD HDTV With ATSC Tuner Model 227V

Friend of mine said that Olevia is a decent brand. I know jack all about LCD. Also, recertified?

Philips DVD Home Theater System, HTS3450
Philips DVD Home Theater System, HTS3450 - Wal-Mart

I've heard of Philips, it's cheap and it looks decent from a layman on these things.

So, again if someone could point me in the right direction with the specifications I've given (I know I could spend thousands of dollars for a much better set up, but I don't want/need that), I'd appreciate it.

Megalith, holla?

How ya doing, buddy?

Recertified means that it is a returned item, meaning a high probability of dead pixels.

I can't really help you, since your budget is only $600. It's like trying to find a nice car to buy with 2 grand.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
