How to convert youtube videos mp3?

Hi

I'm just wondering what software I need to convert youtube videos to mp3's.
I have several music videos from youtube that I want to play in repeat in windows media player, but first I need to convert them to mp3 or something.
Can somebody help me out?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Am I right that you want to extract the audio track from these 'youtube videos' (I've no idea what this 'youtube' is all about) and then play the resulting audio files in, say winamp?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If you don't know what Youtube is, you're living in the past.
Anyways, gaming, there's some sites out there that let you grab YouTube's videos into FLV format, which I then surmise could be broken apart.

Alternatively, why not use recording software of some sort (at the most basic level, Sound Recorder, though it can only get 60 seconds without some cheating) to capture the audio as you play the movie and then save that to MP3?

Would such be too complex?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Maybe, and after checking out what the site is all about, I'm glad to live in the past...

Yes...
I guess I could just press the play button manually when the video is over.

Well, that is if he doesn't mind having re-re-encoded mp3 files, since I'm sure the source video used mp3, then Youtube encoded it upon upload, then you're asking him to record and encode it again back to mp3. Just a thought for the quality-conscious.

Extracting the mp3 from FLV? I think you can use mplayer with dumpstream to extract the music. VLC also has an option to dump raw streams. This way you won't have to reencode the whole thing.

You can download the video file as an flv file, convert it to avi using cinema forge, and then extract the audio by using either virtualdub or video mp3 extractor.

okokok

i've actually done this before so i know.

First thing you need to do is upgrade .net framework to 2.0

Next you need a firefox plug-in called videodownloader.
Get it here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390

Now you need FLV extract. Don't worry its free and i'm pretty sure it's clean too.

Get it here
http://www.moitah.net/ and click on the FLV extract link.

Then you go to your video, on the bottom of the screen should be a disc click on it get the FLV save it blah blah blah. You should be able to figure the rest out it's a pretty easy program to use.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Soooo, do I get points for being leet?

Alright I read through this thread but I'm a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff and dont really understand it. I was wondering if anyone can rip the audio from this song on youtube. Its a unique techno remix of Rihanna's song Umbrella. I'm almost positive that someone will want to rip this for themselves too. So if anyone can do it for me I'd appreciate it much.

Hi guys.
I started this thread long time ago.

All the tips in this thread are great, but the simpliest way I think is using the following software:

vdownloader:
Download VDownloader 0.61 - Download Google, Youtube and Grinvi videos on your computer in avi or mpeg format - Softpedia

You can use it to convert YouTube videos into mp3, ipod, avi, psp, mpeg etc.
All you need is the YouTube link and then you just select the outcome extension.

Software is small in size too. Worth checking out!

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but the Youtube videos are all in mono if I'm not mistaken. Ripping them is possible with a simple .wav dumper such as Totalrecorder or anything built-in that might be on your soundcard. Video recording works too, but like I said - it's in mono, doesn't really make it all that enjoyable.
