Drift City - DRIFTAN GAYMZ

Drift City Website

So I was browsing /v/ a couple days and saw a thread about this game, Drift City. I was like "Oh boy! An online game! That's free! That isn't some grindin' RPG shit! This could be decent at wasting time when I should really be doing classwork! And it uses cell-shaded graphics that look kinda like Jet Set Radio! This can't be bad at all!"

So, a 600MB download and installation of the ijji shit later, I was playing the game.

It's kinda dumb. But really fun!

There's supposedly a "story" in this game, but it's a story like every other Korean online game and can be pretty much ignored. The story will be replaced with: "You do a bunch of missions supposedly relating to finding out about these unmanned vehicles and bashing the shit out of them for experience and monies, but mostly, you're going to race other people."

So pretty much, the game mechanics work like a weird cross between almost any arcade racer, online RPGs, and Jet Set Radio style graphics just for fun.

Again, it's really dumb, but really fun at the same time.

So, who else here plays this, or maybe will play? If there's enough people, maybe we could make a crew to go and multi-track drift around people. On the internet.

Players
Disembow - Quiana - Level 30
Merv Burger - MervBurger - Level 30
Taco - Cinnamon - Level 6
TheKnightOfNee - Rockdan - Level 4

Jam it back in, in the dark.

A friend pointed this thing out to me, and I'm actually intrigued as hell, but I don't have the time to spend on MMOs right now. I'll hopefully be able to check it out in a month or so though!

One thing though, how essential is it to have any skill in racing games? Cause I don't really have any, maybe a little for arcade racers but for any level of simulation I'm just completely lost. I do like cars though, so at least the basic interest is there.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

One of my friends downloadde this game a couple days ago and wants me to get it too. Of course, it seems like he downloads every free Korean online game that comes out, regardless of how good or bad it is. But I may download it and play for a while and see how fun it is.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

No racing skill is required to play. As long as you're capable of pressing keys on your keyboard, you can play it.

< Quiana level 30
It gets a bit grindy on patrols/delieveries when you get past 23ish as the missions begin finishing and then going "Oh sorry, you need another level to take the next one"

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I saw this mentioned in #/a/ the other day so I gave it a shot. It's pretty mindless fun, especially after playing Forza.

Name's Cinnamon, level 8 currently.

Good suggestion is to practice drifting with boosters on as well, it helps you learn the limits of a drift and practice drifting down towards two lane highways, as those come in droves in Komo and Cras.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I'll be joining this just as soon as my laptop arrives back from repairs, which is anywhere from last week to next week.

I downloaded this today. Going under the name Rockdan, currently level 4. Unfortunately, it was lagging like all hell on my laptop. Not sure if it's because of stuff that was open/how long my computer had been on, or if my laptop is just getting really old and it can't run these fancy new games. Hopefully I can configure it to run without lag all over the place, because it seems like fun.

turn off background animations, that'll send your FPS really high, especially around those aweful smoke/dust effects near the mining equipment
